Dan this is one hell of a build using newer equipment and stretching the limits of expectations. You are not the first to go here and while getting one great repeatable model you have given the rest of us a glimpse into 3D printing on a massive scale. Not only can others follow along but if you share your files they can have the same building if so inclined.

Fantastic work and I for one am looking forward to the finished entry.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Many thanks Hollywood. I would be glad to share the files that I’ve created for this model or any others that I have.

I’ve run out of room … on my workbench (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)I knew this model was going to take up some space, but it just didn’t really hit home until I started putting the deck together and I realized it wasn’t going to fit in the space I have historically used for modeling. sooooooooooo … I had to acquire some new real estate. It’s not the washing machine, I tried that and it wasn’t big enough either, but it works just as well …

The kitchen table. Excuse all the clutter in the background.

I added a ruler for some size perspective.

And just a random shot.

The last wall panel is printing as I write this post. All that’s left to print will be the stairs and associated railings and posts. Those should be completed tomorrow evening. I just might get it all put together before the deadline but I doubt it will get painted.

That’s ginormous! Are there other cross braces left to put in? Is it solid enough as it is? Really nice job, Dan!

so is the ruler( scale) a 12” one or a 18” one. That would help with enormous comparison

Yeah, Jim, I still have all the cross pieces to add. I think it would be fine as is cause its fairly sturdy but it wouldn’t look right so I’ll add them. They’ll go pretty quickly … I hope (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Its a 12" ruler, Pete. The overall dimension is around 42" x 21"

Lots of impressive work that will be hidden by the finish carpentry, which in a way really suck, because the bone of this project are worthy of a prize as is!!!

Holy cow manure that thing is huge.

At least you don’t have to worry about it fittin on the layout…yet…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

That’s what sh … never mind (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

What happens when 3D printing goes awry (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-frown.gif)(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

18 hour print wasted (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-yell.gif)

I think it looks fine Dan. . .Now I have played with Fusion a little, and I have to say it must have taken a long time to draft up all that spaghetti.

3D printed brain scan, Dan??? Scary!

Takes super talent to create that mess, trust me (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

Some would call it an artistic masterpiece, I call it … well, I can’t say what I call it on a family oriented site (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)It was the beginning of my super secret roofing project, but oh well. I guess I could cut it up and use it as a thatch roof.

Yep, you figured it out, Jim. I finally succeeded in modeling Devon’s brain (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Sorry Devon, couldn’t resist (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

I think your onto something with that Thatch Roofing Dan. Stomp that out flat, a little glue, a little spray paint It’ll be good to go(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif).

That is a side of parts printing I hadn’t considered.

When I make a part by hand I can tell within 10-15 minutes that I have screwed it up and can start over without wasting all thoses hours.(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)

You could waste not and re-use outside ?

Put it on the layout and call it an artificial version of “sallysukemsily” on the outskirts of Russell Cave, Al.

Only MY thoughts .

Rick, the jury is still deliberating, but I think this particular screw up can be attributed to one Lord Blue. He is our 9 month old kitten and he is fascinated by the action of the printer. I normally have time lapse video of the prints, but in this case I had turned it off due to the length of this print so I have no concrete proof, but it looks like his handy work. The parts I was printing moved during printing for some reason and I would not put it past Lord Blue to think it was fun to try to swat the moving parts as they were printing. Anyway I have restarted the print so hopefully tomorrow I will be back where I had planned to be today.

I JUST HAVE… I have no choice… can’t help myself…

I TOLD Y… …!

You did call it Dave.
