Large Scale Central

Washington Fire Co. No.1

Anyone coming up to the EBT and looking for a place to hang out Friday, Saturday or Sunday night is welcome to join Marilyn and me - we will be camping at the Burnt Cabins Grist Mill & Campground just 5 miles up PA 522 from turnpike exit 180, and & 14 miles south of the EBT at Rockhill Furnace / Orbisonia, PA.

Email me for cell numbers.

If I can free myself up I might be able to make the EBT. It’s been a couple years since I last got there. What section are you planning to meet at?

Dave

I’m all over the place mostly. Anyone that wants to meet at EBT, the depot or the Friends tent by the roundhouse are probably the easiest meeting points. I’ll be there Fri/Sat/Sun. A speeder rides to Colgate Grove, night photo session with the coal train are on my schedule for Friday. Sat & Sunday are wide open fro me - just hanging out taking pictures.

I was building a firehouse here but we are on page 5 and I have had no progress since last post!!!

You haven’t shown any progress for two weeks. We’re just keeping the thread alive to see if you can get past the inspector and Andy’s counting

it’s up to 7…

I thought this was Dave R’s open house thread :frowning:

The boobs will all be here on the 12th!

I’m really hoping to have this project finished before the crew of “boobs” arrive on the 12th. I’ve made it to the bell tower so far but we’ll start with what was accomplished today.

With the roof trusses in I made the main roof out of the same 1/4" pvc board. I also made provisions for roof ventilation as you can see the 1/8" gap on the eave in the top picture (note Radders cigar store and you can see the gap) I made a ridge vent as shown above and with the 2 panels in place it should leave for airflow up under the roof and escape out of the ridge vent. The chimney is a scratch of different materials I had on hand.

Now I’m onto the bell tower. The dome is a door stopper and the other items are pvc or tuf board once again material I had on hand. The roof is removable and the rest of the structure can be broken down into 4 individual walls.

I thought this was the open house at the EBT with free lunch thread. When did you throw a fire house build in the mix?

Dave R like the venting idea should help some and maybe stop the distortion of the roof. Tower looks like a match for the proto type, but I still wonder about the dome choice. It’s a close match, but how does it take to paint. What brand did you use on it? Also how will it hold up outside?
I know you take your stuff inside when not in use but the rubber is going to react to the sun quickly.Really coming along great and really like the takedown approach to building. Should make them alot easier to store.

Been kinda picking away at this model and got the cupola roof down. That was a bit of a challenge considering the 4 cornices and the octagon turret. But the large hurdles are all jumped so now it details and paint.

Really admire your choice of model subjects and the detail you incorporate in each. After seeing the originals can’t help but sing praise on your models.

When we came in to town for Dave’s get together our route brought us past this fire house. I immediately recognized it as matching the model. Same for Dave’s house. I knew exactly what to look for as we got close. Creepy that
