Large Scale Central

USMC version 2 (factory building)

Nope  not done yet. Got the ladder and the bridge from the shed roof to the ladder done. Still thinking about the cage. Should be a fair weather weekend after this Nor’easter so painting on the main building will happen…yea…gonna get cold and stay there soon.

Inspection before painting  The figure is probably 1:22…no good 1:32 or 1:29 stuff around…that I can find anyway.

Love that textured roof paint… Kudos to Rustoleum

Wow, Larry! That is really looking great. Looks like you soldered all those rungs on the ladder individually instead of cheating and using hardware cloth, like I would! You’ve got some time on your hands!!! Your method looks way better! Rustoleum texture paint is great. I used it on a barn roof a few years ago. It’s held up well. Keep up the progress. Can’t wait to see more.

Yes Kevin…a bit of a masocist am I  Nice weather for the next two day so I got out the rattle cans. Don’t think I’ve got the finger strength to do and more today. Tomorrow I start on the interior floors and lights. Paints still wet in the pics… so far 16 cans at $6ea…that’s the trouble with really big bldgs that need a textured spray paint

Amazing how much that can wear on you! Those spray-can "spray handles" don't work well either!

Looking sweet!

Getting the windows in is required before the floors. The windows are the usual plastic grid used for ceiling lights. Certainly not fine scale…but then if it was then it would never get done. Windows are a friction fit into the frame area and 90% are spot on, 8% are too tight so a little shaving is needed. 2% are a wee bit loose and will probably need a bit of caulk to keep them from falling out. Glazing is acylic sheets screwed into the wall with rubber washer and screws. The washers come with the screws…a product used to fasten modern corragated plastic roof panels. Only 50% of the windows done… gotta get busy tomorrow

Ground view.

Even pruned the tree so I can take a better picture. This thing is way cooler in person than in the pictures.

It looks a lot like a prison!

A big

Larry, that’s turned out right sharp looking. I don’t know about the in person thing, but i think it looks way cool in the pics. Great job.
Might i ask if you’re going to put a roof hatch in the shed or add an outside ladder for access to the walkway ?

Lot’s more work to do including details Dave

A “PRISON”…maybe in FLA but not around here

Imagine Sing sing prison in white…

Different number of floors. Different window arrangement. Different construction material. Other than being rectangular no similarities. It’s not that unusual to see rectangular buildings though.

Larry that looks great.

looking good keep pics coming

since last time…all the windows are in and today the lights. I’m using 18’ lenthgs of rope light (hampton Bay from HD) one 18’ section for each floor. At present they are daisy chained into one long section for the whole bldg…thinking about if I want control on each floor. The lights are fastened to the walls with clips that come with the light although I did buy 3 more clip kits (one clip every 12"s) Ground floor level. Using solid white coroplast for floors

Larry, If you get the time, could you send an email about how you did those blue rug junipers again, to make them form into a tree… Jane would like to try some, but can’t remember exactly how you said you did them… thanks,
