Cliff, the extra time spent to enlarge those platforms was worth it visually! This project was / is amazing! Looking forward to the photo of the first train creeping across the span!

Thanks very much, Eric! Means a lot.
When do we get to see it in the wild …
Will it look different then? why the rush? it’s cool and blustery outside now a days. Why ruin it over winter when he could at least get to run a train on it after the spring? Maybe he actually works a real job and trains are a fun hobby that get enjoyed at HIS leisure. Not at the drop of someone else’s hat. Maybe he wants the oils to fully soak in before it goes outside. Maybe he just wanted to move it off his workbench for another more important build before he puts it outside. Maybe his holdup is he needs to add details to the terrain. Or maybe just maybe he stopped all progress because he just doesn’t jump to your drummer and once he relaxes and feels the urge he’ll set it in place. Maybe. You just never know
Ive bumped the projected ribbon cutting to September 2026. Costs ballooned 546% over original estimates.
Dave he doesn’t need any reason to Devonise things
Speaking of Devon, wasn’t he last seen heading off to some mine in Idaho in March? He hasn’t taken up scrapbooking or quilting has he?
Sean, Maybe he’s waiting on you to share your intricate build so others can critique your time spent not meeting their standards. but I won’t go there, I just know a kind word on occasion might let others know you are jesting. Seems that has been noted a few times and I am starting to see why those thoughts in others arise, Sorry you’d rather barb then praise. I do know others have left the site when they received constant negative and a few we all miss

Okay
He does great work… maybe i am jealous that he can spend that much time on anything, I am used to go go go
Barbs against Rooster are fair game though. Devon is the king of 3d design.
Well said, David. Devon is a humble and self-depricating man, who for the sake of humor offered his own name up as a term related to pondering long and hard over something, before commiting time and money. Most people would say what was wise.
But I think he was understandably hurt and disturbed when others, such as Sean, used his name to describe all manner of what was judged to be character flaws in others, such as laziness, procrastination, and fear. And yes, Devon was driven away. At least, that was how I saw it.
In my case, I’ve built this very complicated trestle in 1.5 months. Using every spare moment, other than further research / history / model studies which I don’t dare to share now. But despite my devoting every pocket of time to the effort, I’ve been accused of laziness at every step.
I’m sure others have been offended by such unmerited and baseless invective and implied accusations, especially when delivered by persons afraid to subject themselves to similar scrutiny on such topics as work schedules, family priorities, time management, budget anxieties, and so forth, all in the context of trying to perform a major, months-long, project for their layout.
Bottom line: This is Bob’s living room, and none of us wants to get kicked out. Let’s take each other at his word. When on a humorous thread, jokes are fine; but please let’s cool it with the character assinations on serious conversations. Respect is the key. If you don’t like what someone’s posting about, respect them enough to offer contructive, not destructive, commentary; or else hold back.
well, from my viewpoint this thread is derailed.
so i’ll be so free, to get rid of some rantings.
we are all getting older. meaning, that many of us loose abilities they had.
so we read less and less about things actually done, and more and more comments from the Statler and Waldorf balcony.
yes, i know, i, myself am sitting on that balcony - and i see, who sits by my side…
sometimes i think we behave like vampires - sucking on those few, that still are active and do something.
and what are we balconistas doing?
a bit joking, a bit too much criticising, and too much nagging.
(oh, i forgot! sometimes we load up a pic or two, of what we did decades ago…)
but if it comes to praise - then the artists, that actually do something, can be happy to receive a thumb up sometimes.
just a suggestion to my fellow Statlers and Waldorfs: before telling sombody, what he did wrong, ask ourselves when we ourselves did anything.
Devon
a man with many interests, many hobbies a hard life, but always friendly and goodwilling.
we chained his name to armchair modelling, but to be true, when he realises something, it is remarkable good. (just check his models for the MIK competitions. - oh, don’t let me start about MIK. another one, who we apreciated only, after he was gone)
well, this was short, for what i would like to say, but long enough for you folks to hear.
let me close with a word from the hippie time:
Be nice upon each other!
(and my thanks to Hollywood, that he dared to open this can of worms)
I think we need to start a wager on when the trestle gets installed. Buy-in is $100.
are you a Bot, or just a Facebooker?
Wow never thought I’d be such a hot topic of discussion. A certain friend clued me into my name being brought up. So let me give you some insight.
FIRST I think EVERYONE’S description bares a lot of resemblance. Good and what other may perceive as bad. But at the end of the day only a few on here have caused me an reason for pause an not one of them us in this conversation. Sean, you seem to be taken a bit of a beating, in part in how you apparently treat me. I didn’t see it. If you meant ill will I missed it. I grew up a redneck in N Idaho with country kids. Then I joined the Marines. I have pretty thick skin and if you tried to offend me you missed. But rather I believe you played into what Cliff accurately describes my self-deprecating side. I firmly believe if we can’t laugh at ourselves then who can we laugh at.
Cliff, Dave, Korm, others who lept to my defense, thank you means alot. I try to be a humble, loving, caring friend. I never have been driven to perfection. LSC has become a family and I appreciate that I can be me.
As for me. I have been far too distracted by many none train related things. Some good some not so good. But always looking to offset the bad with an abundance of good.
This being probably my largest nonwork/family focus. This was the view on a Sunday morning from my hammock tent. 3.5 mile hike and 1800 verticle foot climb one way. What a beautiful place. BTW I bought me an even fancier hammock tent.
I also am struggling with the head again. Recent trip to Seattle showed no promise. CT scan looked normal for me which isn’t great. Lowered my shunt setting yet again to .5. Normal people would be having strokes and seizures at that low a setting. Not only is that not happening i still have my symptoms. Likely going to see a headache specialist and also a new barage of MRI testing to try and see if they can find something they are missing. One thing they tell you to do is lose weight. Since February I have lost 30 pounds only to have my symptoms worsen.
I dont say any of this for sympathy or pitty. I simply say it to explain why I have been distracted and not on LSC. But the MIK 8s approaching and I wouldn’t miss that. So was planning a strategic return anyway. Besides I need a reason to quit Devoning cleaning my hobby room. . .
Korm, I am a bot. Thank you for asking!
Just catching up. Man Cliff thats huge.
oh, oh, that’s exactly where i’m stuck during the last decade.
first i tried to clean square yard by square yard… now im proud for every square foot cleaned.
and my 2011 MIK project, the hotel, is still not finished.
nice to read you again!
I am proud of every square foot cleaned as well. Problem is I moved it from the currently clean square foot to the previously cleaned square foot. So I always have one clean square foot.
that sounds familiar!
