Trestle Design & Construction on the V&T

""Will you be putting refugees on your refuges?

Bill;

No, but at least now the refugees will not have to shelter inside the barrels to take refuge from a passing train!

Keep on trackin’, David Meashey

When does it go outside?

Somewhere around August 2026

After the inside work is done. either spring of '26, or whenever I dang well feel like it, whichever comes sooner. Or later.

So are you going to make a display case so it is all clean and maybe have to build a shelf… :kissing_smiling_eyes:

Yes, and a shipping case. I’m going to enter it at the 2026 Narrow Gauge Convention, and expect to win in the category of Most Crap Ever Taken During a Model Build.

Oh boo hoo Cliff…you have no idea about taking crap…you have a long way to go before getting into rooster territory.

Cliff, that alone would make me jump on an aeroplane and head to Tennessee

All done with the inside work. Platforms are enlarged, stained and (freshly) oiled, and the railings are finished.

Gettin’ her outta the shop began with the good ol’ baby pram chassis (used more on the layout than any of our kids).

We tipped the trestle on its side and rolled it out.

Then temporarily parked it on the jig again…

… with the back door now an easy straight shot.

Clear work table, finally!

Are you telling us you have 2 bases of operations?

I’ve read the ShedOps thread and that operational table looks to be the size and shape of a quilting / scrapbooking table your shed. :grinning:

The expression on Linda’s face looks more like

“Finally gettin’ him outta the shop… :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

I’ve seen that exact expression on Herself when I’ve been in the loft and touched a pair of scissors.

Um… yeah. Basement shop is for small models, and the shed shop is for bigger stuff (because Linda kicked me out of the garage).

Linda was happy to finally see this thing on its way outside that I could move on to other things, and at the time of the photo was concentrating on the trestle not hitting something in that narrow hall.

Thanks very much, David.

Brother, that trestle is a lot larger than I thought. Simply amazing.

Now that you have trestle making down pat, you’ll be able to focus more on making a port for this beauty!

Thanks, John. Same here… :grinning:

You bet, Bill, she’d be right at home in the high desert of Nevada, even more so up in the mountains where Virginia City is. Love it!

That’s Revell’s HMS Victory, I made that in our first year of marriage, some 42 years ago. In a tiny closet “shop” which Linda let me have in our first apartment. I still can’t believe the detailed painting I was able to do on it back then; now I can only paint really big things, and that’s with the 10’ rule. :grinning:

Really beautiful work, Cliff. My 2’ bridge I just built looks very sad compared to this. And I love the red!
