When he gets a turntable built in Franklin Falls, we won't have to sneak through there to use the one at Burke. Franklin Falls wasn't completed so it was very tight. Sneaking the motive power through the cut over and into Burke relieved some of that.

What did you use for tonnage? I’ve thought of using the gross tonnage on the reporting marks of the cars. Is that what you use?

This http://members.trainweb.com/bedt/indloco/err28.html I plan on making a condensed version of the yard trackage there. Something like this
Ah, thanks Bob. Now I get it. Sometimes they just wizz right by me.
Cool! With the float bridge and a system of connection to the outside world? I think the B&O had one of these much the same.

Neat, but you need a longer run around!

There is a car float over in Wiiliamsport, just to the right of that yellow reefer.

That’s Bruce having a grand time switching cars onto it…

How true! The car ferry adds a neat dimension to the switching there. First of all, the engine is not allowed on the car ferry. There’s an idler flat car kept there so you can reach the final car on the ferry. Next, you can’t ever have the car “unbalanced”. That means if there’s 4 cars on the ferry (2 on each track), you can’t pull out 2 cars on that first track - you have to leave one and just pull one; so the ferry will have 2 cars on one track, and one on the other. Then you can pull the 2 cars on the one track, leaving the one on the other. Finally, you can get that last car. Of course the idler is in the way, but that’s just another problem. I really enjoyed that, but the guys waiting for me to clear the station were not as pleased. :o

Bob; That is the problem that we all have a one time or another! And I am about out of room to put in mor bench work. Never any more on the ground track! to hard to reach and work on!

Bob
Its always fun to suggest improvements for others
As it stands it is a little short for both. Expand the yard another 6 -10 ft behing the shed and I think there is room for both. I like complicated trackage and the design actually allows two locomotives to be working the yard at the same time which also adds an extra dimension.

Bruce: You’d get significantly more yard capacity by putting those 2 ladders, one at each end, making it a simple double-ended yard. You’d still be able to pull trains out from each end. Even better ( realize you’ve got brickwork there, but anyway - even better, put your right -end yard access switches out there on that curve above that brick planter, or at least back those switches out to the right as much as you can. There’s no such thing as too much yard - or spur - trackage!
Except then it wouldnt be a switching puzzle like the prototype track, which is the whole purpose of it.
