Large Scale Central

This is never going to end

I’ve been cutting and splitting wood and staying just ahead of the game. We only heat with wood.

We only had a dusting. Ir’s supposed to be about 51 on Sunday.

I use to heat with wood years ago. I’d cut and split wood most of the spring and summer so I would have enough wood for the winter.
Sure was a lot of work. I don’t know how our for fathers did it every year, and no chainsaws.
As for the weather dude I sure wish he would forecast better weather for us.
Not looking forward to the bad weather later today. Right now it’s the calm before the storm.
David

I did a little heating of the outside with wood today. My fire pit finally emerged from the snowbank…

Some of the track has come up for air, but still plenty of snow on Coal Dump Curve…

But West Escape` is ready for traffic…

Ran out of wood too soon, so I moved back inside.

Jon: Looks like you had a good thing going there. Nice a comfy. Later RJD

You just need some warm weather!

D'you think he's responsible for my very favouritest weather heading our way Monday: snow followed by freezing rain followed by more snow. Ah hates wabbi ... er, freezing rain.

This was yesterday in Palmdale where we were visiting family

Well it finally stopped snowing here in northern Ohio. The temps went up into the mid 40’s and it’s now raining cats and dogs. So between the heavy rain and the snow-melt (there was about a foot on the ground) we’re under a flash flood warning till about noon. Right now the sump pump is cycling about 80% on/20% off … keeping my fingers crossed that it doesn’t get to 100%on.

Victor, by afternoon I was at the club layout at Greenbee Nursery in Palmdlrale and was in a t-shirt!

We got 1/2" snow on the 210 freeway over Las Tunas canyon, +/-1500’ that was as low as it got by our house.

Maybe it will end after all.

Rain yesterday finished off all the snow on my roof, except the 10 inch thick ice dam. With cut-backs at work I’m home before 5 now with an hour of daylight left. The snow has softened enough that I was able to dig my way in to the Indian Hill bridge. and uncover the bridge. It’s bright and sunny today. Even though temps have fallen back below freezing, the higher sun angle is still melting snow.

My line is finally all clear. Still snow in and around the layout and most of my yard is still covered but I can now run trains. I had some trains running yesterday and got my train station out on the layout. As long as the wind today is not too bad going to run some more. Some of my crocus are coming up. I planted them over the fall in the layout to give me early life to the RR. I heard they come up even in snow cover.

Ours would have a long way to come up, then :( Recent report from the meteorologists suggests the groundhogs were all wet, and we're going to have a late, slow, wet spring. Crikey, when you can't even trust a groundhog ... :P

Maybe the groundhog was predicting the weather on the California desert. It’s feeling like Spring!
