This is never going to end

Three snow storms in 8 days. If I wanted to live with this kind of weather I’d live up north …

Hi Roger:

Way up here in Ottawa Canada at the moment it is raining. Feb 14 and it is raining. NUTS !
I remember years ago I visited the Ottawa Winterlude Festival at this exact time of year and it was -30 Celcius with high winds, high snow fall accumulation and very fast skin damage from the cold ( frost bite ).
Things are going to be tough if we ever go back to our once normal winters.

This round is finally ending in Carlyle. We’ve been above freezing for about 72 hours and more warmth in the forecast. We can see ground, but as I told Doc Tom, it ain’t pretty. Lots of clean up, but then I guess that is why we do this.

Last two days the temp has been in the 50’s during the day and upper 30’s at night. The snow is finally melting and the layout is starting to become visible. I can see the bareberry trees.

Mr. Russells homestead still burried but the cumberland trestles are starting to show.

Good to see the layout. Your temperatures day and night are warmer than ours!

Looks good. Last night I checked mine, and I can see about half of the track width on my elevated section; but from there up it’s still deeply buried. I does look like I could dig the fireplace out this weekend, but I was reminded I have something to do on Sunday

I'm fine...still have food, booze and electricity!

Lots of melting today with temps well above 60F. All of my elevated track and everything up to Coal Dump Curve is free of snow and ice. The North tail or the wye also came up for air. The balance of the mainline and wye are still under over a foot of heavy wet snow. I dug the fireplace out today. If I can find some dry firewood I’ll see if I can generate enough heat tomorrow to melt some more. If not, it will be fun to sit by the fire and consume a few Cabin Fever ales.

Dave, so long as you don’t run out of booze, you can get by without food and electricity

Doc says no booze :( and to cut back on the food :( and Premier Dolton is trying to make electricity unaffordable with his crack-brained 'green power' schemes :( which will, admittedly, increase employment ............ in Korea :P Alas, poor Ontario. Mind you, we did have a thaw today :) Mercury going down again tomorrow :( But it's only three months until spring :D

Winter isn’t leaving the California desert either. It’s snowing tonight.

Most all the white is gone in our area. Ice is off the lake, except for a few floating islands of seagull dung. 68 degrees this afternoon, but back to cold this week. Days are getting long and the birds are flying.

The line is open again. Only problem is snow in forcast for tonight. 4-8 inches. Figures i start to see grass and we get more snow.

Never forget that Mother Nature is a -itch.

woke up to 6.5 inches of snow and still snowing hard. So much for seeing grass.

Stay in the house and get over whatever it is you got !

It was close to 70 over the weekend and except for a few piles here and there the snow had disappeared. Woke up this morning to this:

Do I love it? No, not really, that’s a long freaking driveway to shovel out…

even if it was only about 4" of the stuff…

Ha ha looks just like my driveway.

I gave up clearing the entire driveway 2 years ago when my plow for the tractor broke. Now I just put it in 4 LO and drive right over it. Marilyn does insist I shovel out a car-length by the street for her.
