Large Scale Central

The official Spring photo thread

I have 2 LSOL tank cars (with different numbers), An Aristo 4th East Coast show boxcar I haven’t upgraded to my railroad’s standards yet, a Kalamazoo anniversary boxcar, the GR anniversary boxcar, and an MDC anniversary caboose. So I guess a red white and blue, 1776-1976 diesel could work. I know that someone, probably the Shawmutt Shops, made an dismal like that.

I will have to consider my options, and think about it for another year or so.

After taking the wife out to Sunday brunch at a friend’s restaurant, it looked like a nice day to runa train…

No.22 got picked for the duty…

After this rough winter there were surprisingly few track problems. Had a hi-lo coupler issue that was easy to fix and I did re-build a switch last week, but other then that it was a fine run.

HI LSC, Ive Been lurking for a while here but have yet to post. I figured this thread would be good thread for an intro. For the last three years I’ve had this meager set up in the yard but It finally fell prey to bigger and better plans this spring. The lower half was removed so a tree could be dropped without damaging the track. The wall behind is necessary to maintain a walking path beside where the new track will be. I won’t be able to get into full swing with the new layout until fall as I have to finish a restoration on my J10 Jeep truck and having to get all the interior wood work done on our house this year.

My only engine was a Ruby that has gone under the knife for heavy modification, and is very well begun. I will Start a thread here on it’s completion. I now however have huge motivation to get my first loop in though since I just took delivery of an Accucraft EBT 12. I won’t have time to do tons this year but will post what i do get done.

Welcome Randy

Welcome aboard, Randy. May I suggest that you go to the General Discussion Forum and post your introduction there, as it will be seen by almost everyone, giving them a chance to welcome you into the fold.

Welcome Randy. Looking forward to progress updates. Looks like a nice area for a railroad.

Thanks for the welcome guys, I put another post in the general discussion to introduce my self a bit more. Glad to be posting here now. This thread and lots of other have me itching to dive in to the trains, so it should help motivate the projects that have to come first too!

Well spring is showing it’s colors for sure!

Yikes…It looked good…They do know how to find bad track!

I guess I have some work to do!

Cant wait to see your small loop you build for the summer

My son would not let me run any live steam today so I had to settle for some track power…

The proof I had no control

After much deliberating and soul searching, I didn’t bring any trains or track and I did have some extra room in the van. I knew I wouldn’t be satisfied with a small track powered loop, and it would get out of hand, LOL!

I did bring material to build a grist mill and some sculpty to make figures. My summers are busy and I play gigs every week, so being away from the railroad gives me more time to practice new songs!

Wow Mike! No trains!? I’d have to at least take a small bit of track and an engine with a freight car. lol.

Beautiful railraoad Shawn!!

Nice Wrangler Boomer. I have a two door and my wife has the four door. I will never get anything but a wrangler. Use to have the Cherokee.

Looking good with some plants andflowers.

Here are a few shots of my Regner Konrad today. Eventually it will get a wooden cab and the sides painted black. I finally got all three coaches finished.

That is awsome. Live steam rules!!!

Coaches look great, in a European kind of way!

Looks as if spring finally caught up to North Jersey, got some Phlox bloomin there. Nice pix!

Out cleaning leaves - the Nelly Stevens Holly drops its leaves in the Spring…and they covered the track and the town.

While I was out, I decided to give my 25 Ton Critter a chance to run for awhile.

It’s a very nice slow runner. I was only out for 62 minutes…and I averaged 3.8 mph (scale).

Today I started breaking in my new Piko Mogul. Some days don’t go as well as others!(http://freightsheds.largescalecentral.com/users/doug_arnold/_forumfiles/Mogul.jpg)
