It better be done by Christmas :)
Page 5 Two cars are getting there and currently working on third which I hope to make a Transition Sleeper. Process is going (Fair) to say the least. I have to figure out the trucks(not an easy task), and other details that can be added later. Just doing rough frame in for added detail’s later. No animals were harmed during this build. Threw the 2 semi completed cars on some freight trucks and took them outside …No these are not the truck’s I’m gonna use… The Coach started from the 2nd mock up It was …

That’s all for the Sunday night photo dump.
Rooster,
I don’t know what to say other than I wish I could do that
Ralph
One hell of a build Rooster. Cars are really looking great.
They look amazing! And yep I’ve got another prototype image for you. While in Beech Grove (Amtrak heavy repair shop) Superliners typically ride on shop trucks while undergoing major overhauls and wreck repairs. Looks just like your Supers on freight trucks.
I honestly don’t know how he’s building these superliners without a car building or repair shop…
Cars are coming along nicely, but I see they still have a hump…
Matt,
Never seen that before …or atleast never took notice too it. Trains Mag did an article at Beech Grove not long ago but ya’ know I never paid attention to the trucks.
Dad,
For some reason when the camera goes off with no flash I get a bow or fisheye affect as of recently?
Those cars look nice Dave, hope to read about the build/materials soon. You might check out my Sea Land trailer in the Modeling forum. I used old printing plates and metal duct tape.

Yep saw it and responded with Jerry. As for the materials I’ve already told ya’ a good bit of them so far and I’m surprised you haven’t figured out the rest by now. I thought the radial roof mock up process would keep you busy for awhile anyway. Can anyone identify “past project fail/scraps” on the floor to the left?.. shop recycle bin! I see 2 right now through my magic mirror.

I’m still trying to figure where to source the simulated corrugated ribbing on the cars?
Chas
If you go back through the thread, the question was asked, and an indirect answer was given.
With due respect to the rooster, I will honor his responses…
Go back through the thread, there is a link to another thread…
In that thread, there is the same question, a lot of speculation, and one person gives an answer…
The rooster basically confirms this speculation, the exact manufacturer, as being correct.
There, I gave you the path and the clues…
Hopefully I have not exceeded the bounds of secrecy! ha ha!
Greg
<<om what I can tell from the corrugations, the material is Coroplast. Its basically plastic cardboard. I have stacks of scrap sheets in my garage (I work at a large format print shop). Its very flexible which would make it great for this application. We’ll just have to wait for David to reveal his secret though. >>

Not at all Greg …when looking at that other thread(which was whipped up for a challenge build here) it seems that the same people have the same interest. However if all re-read this thread(FROM THE BEGINNING) there are lots of leads but no quick easy answers that everyone is looking for.
Car #1 that became the coach baggage started with that material for a roof and failed. I have wanted these cars for several years and this is a whole new process that I spent many, many hours and a few dollars researching until I got the results that I was after.
Once again this batch of cars is STILL an on going learning experience for me and it’s STILL ONLY A HOBBY . Tweaking and fixin’ automobiles used too be a hobby but is now a career(that I enjoy) but is no longer a HOBBY.
I personally think they look better than Mr Brown’s commercially and occasionally available 1:32 stuff so far but have not given me personally the “Damn dude they look bitchin” feel. I still need to figure out trucks and other details as well and enjoying my finds and fails while sharing as I go.
I will say that the materials used are readily available and can be made by anyone with modeling experience but I’m just not ready to reveal that to the world (WWW.) just yet!
I appreciate your respect Greg! Is that a fair enough answer?
I’m too old to have experience…
Will this post make page 6?
Yup, a few bread crumbs, but I’d already gone down that trail. Still not quite what I was looking for but closer. I know I’ve seen it but not at this job …at my former workplace maybe? For sure actually I just can’t seem to get my “google-fu” to find it.
Chas
What??
Chas. you spent too many days on the road with our band!
LOL!
Dr Dirty coems to mind…instead of “On the road again…” with Willie it becomes “On the floor again…”
sigh

Matt, You don’t happen to have the prototype length on the 1700 series baggage ? Thanks

Oh no - A Valby fan John lives in Clarence and was a customer of mine when I had a sound shop there in the late 70’s & 80’s.
