OK nobody makes these things in that scale. Great Trains manufactured some but whats available that pops up occasionally for sale is what’s left of their produced undetailed 1:32 line. I had the opportunity to see a quite detailed 1:32 car made by Ralph Brown (American Standard Car Co.) however it was not quite what I’m after. So I had a bunch of scrap materials in my shop and I thought I would take a stab at making these cars in 1:29. I already had the dimensions but no real plans to work from. The length is 35" and the height is approx 6 5/8" I know the radial roof is gonna be a pig… Drew up my own plans based on what info I could find at the time.
BASE Materials will be 1/4 pvc board,1/8" pvc board, 1/8" acrylic and wood. I milled out the kerfs and rabbets for the acrylic sides to attach the base , ends and roof.
Made a first attempt roof but screwed up the rabbets on the wood so made an attempt to fix it with coro and then .040 pvc…fail. The clear 1/8" acrylic is sprayed black on the backside to represent tinting on the windows.
Second roof attempt that was a success and currently working off this mock up.
