Large Scale Central

New shed

Don Leghorn, I wish I had the skills to become the Manimal of the Southern Hemisphere. :horse:

Unfortunately I’m more…:dromedary_camel:

Ever wonder what thief LSC would sound like as a podcast?

I googled a Podcast about Cliff’s Shed on their experimental website. It created a two person podcast summary of ShedOps 2024. (It was the audio equivalent of driving past a bad accident and not being able to look away.)

digesting this answer…
… i came to te conclusion, that an imported animal, like a kamel would not be fitting.
isn’t there a pic for a duckbill platypus ?

Incredible, Bill… all AI-generated, right? Did you feed it stuff, or did it can the thread and make it all up on its own?

I didn’t do anything but give it the address of this page, and it figured out the rest. As you heard, it made quite a few blaring mistakes, but also was quite insightful in others. It’s an experimental AI website, and I haven’t worked out if it can be tweaked.

It certainly is quite good at explaining very technical pages. I dumped a Massoth manual into it.

It seemed to me though , that it had all the trappings of one of those late night talk shows, where they pretend to all be best mates, but it’s an advert for the guests upcoming movie. I was waiting for them to say Tonight’s ShedOps special guests are Lou, Dave and Bob…

Did you get the feeling that the fake podcasters just :smiling_face_with_three_hearts::heart_eyes::kissing_heart::kissing_cat:👩‍❤‍💋‍👨 Rooster? They even nicknamed him!

It’s just amazing. They even interpret photos, with dialogue that wasn’t in the threads!

Yes, errors, but kinda funny. Like having Korm being the one saying “I was left unsupervised.”

A nice quote: “It’s like they’re having this online game of chess, each move calculated for the best comedic effect.”

Yes they totally kissed up to Rooster! Says she, re Rooster’s suggesting of hostas in Linda’s fairy garden, “He’s like the fairy godfather of the forum.” Oh yeah, baby! But they kinda missed some other aspects of him… not sure how far I want to go with that though. :innocent:

HO LEE FUK…BILL YOU ARE OUT OF CONTROL!!

I FREAKING QUIT!
:rooster:

And these guys think I have issues??

No you don’t. One thing I’ve learned the short time I’ve been on this forum, Rooster, you are not a quitter!

ah, that explains why i could not open that thing.

That’s probably a good idea Korm. A :camel: camel sticks out like a sore thumb, but a platypus is less obnoxious and rarely seen.

I like the phrase that a camel is a horse designed by a committee.

You know, guys…

It’s like a modern LSC ”Cinderfella” Story. Who’d have guessed that Rooster would become a computer chip computer chick magnet!?

The Fairy Godfather of LargeScale Centralia is now forever etched in my mind.

But I must point out that the AI was somewhat correct with Korm too. I think we all agree he has been left pretty unsupervised in the Umlaut Department

Well that’s your own fault?

INTERMISSION

Rooster,

I’d be wary of posting romantic western music, especially on this thread, considering there’s been an expression of unrequited love by the AI podcasters who hang out here.

This may be of help to you before it gets out of hand:

Right after flying into Reno NV yesterday (on my way to the 14th Annual Virginia & Truckee Historical Society Conference in Carson, joining around 150 V&T fanatics), my middle sister was on her way from California to a convention in Sparks NV. Amazingly, the timing worked out for our travel paths to intersect and for us to meet at a Reno brewery and hoist a beer together.

Her convention: the 14th Annual Reno Ukulele Festival, with around 150 uke-playing fanatics! :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

And, before you suggest it Bill, no, I don’t think the two conferences should be combine. Yes, some savings in room and board might result; but equilibrium in the cosmos would be shaken, IMO. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

Would not have even occurred to me Cliff…

…so THERE WILL BE entertainment and dancing after the ShedOps2024 convention now?

Will there be a L!VE PODCAST?

Does your sister know Tiptoe Through the Tulips :notes:

Any more updates?

… asking for a fairy godfather friend…

Not much in the way of updates, other than having had a great day driving around my favorite stomping grounds (Sutro, Virginia City, Dayton, all in Nevada), working on a switch machine design project, missing the annual V&T Historical Society Board of Directors meeting (I swear I meant to attend, but forgot what day it was!), more switch machine, and attending the annual V&T modeler’s workshop in the evening, which just finished up.

But thanks for asking!

A small update, related to that small terrace uphill from the shed.

A tremendous amount of water comes down this hill, and I’m relieved to report that the first line of defense – a perfed tube embedded in gravel, aka French drain – has been doing the job.

Now that it’s spring, Linda wanted to get with the planting operation for that mini terrace, which occurred today. I helped with weeding, digging holes, and fetching mulch from a local dealer.

She did the rest, including laying a row of small rocks to help keep the mulch from flowing over.

Below that new rock row is the second French drain, which hopefully will not see much use.

Below that is the path, which has its own drainage avenues.

So far, through the many rains this year, all has seemed stable.

Cliff, does Linda not know about ShedOps 2025?

I will be referring to this thread as I contemplate moving my RR empire / man cave / workshop into an existing 14x24 “garage” which is actually a shed. The condition is a real unknown. The property inspection did not include it, or a second small shed on the property. At minimum it will need a proper man door and bigger windows. The skirting around the bottom is likely there to hide rot, so I may decide it just needs replacing.

I have a suitability inspection scheduled for May 1, but that will now likely change as our close date is shifting 3 weeks further into the future.
