Large Scale Central

New Features

Glad you are enjoying zoom capable pictures! I have been posting high resolution going back to MLS days. The old software allowed a link to be embedded in a photo, and I used that to link to a high-res version. It was a lot of work creating two sizes of every picture and uploading them all to my web space. I asked if folks ever looked at the high res versions and got an overwhelming No response. So I stopped.

More recently, even in the old version of LSC, most posts had pics at 2048x1536, or at minimum 1024x768. They would display at 800x but could be opened in a new tab at full resolution. I doubt many did that either.

Now that the actual resolution is displayed and a simple click gets you a larger image, I think the larger images will be viewed more often.

And just to see if it is Bob’s picture host, or the software. Here is a test of a picture direct from my phone, uploaded to my web space. It is uncompressed 4160x2340 24bit and 2651KB in size. When I upload at 2048x1536, I use JPG compression and get the file size down to about 550KB.

NOTE: Click it twice to get the full size. And I also note that the resolution is not displayed. Perhaps because I am hosting it.

Off of the hamburger menu in the top right, there is a Users report, showing various statistics for users.

Kind of neat.

Nice. What happened to the Thumbs Up in the reaction list? It disappeared a few weeks ago.

Noticed this when you click on the number of replies next to a topic on the home page:

Clicking on the top date goes to the first post. Bottom goes to most recent one.

This was on my phone, not sure if it does the same thing on a desktop browser.

There was a display bug where the image wouldnt appear. A couple other people on the Discourse forums noticed it as well, so I think its an actual bug.

Well, we’re not THAT limited.

:innocent:

Perhaps I’m weird (PERHAPS???), but I am REALLY enjoying the new look and the ease of use here. Well done, Bob!

Did anyone mention that you can drag-and-drop a video in here? It must be less than 4MB.

Nice to know the restrictions - thanks Pete.
An amazing site - well done, BD!

Just found another really neat feature. Start composing a new message on your phone. Then open the message composer on your computer. The ‘in-flight’ message shows up there, too. VERY handy for posting a message with pictures off your phone, but then lets you use the easier-to-use computer keyboard.

I’ve been posting build pics in chat that way for a couple weeks :sunglasses:

Yes, I already noticed that when I was trying the phone/tablet access.

I’m also starting to appreciate that this site lists the latest thread updates, but without worrying if you visited recently.

Whoa! With much power, comes much responsibility!

And then I get a badge? Cool…

Neat. The Trust Levels are interesting, they’re a way to award people for being a regular visitor and contributor on the site. Each one is a multi-faceted calculation looking at time visited, X days visited in Y days, number of posts read, number replied to, etc. There’s something like 25 or so different facets it looks at.

25? I guess that will make it harder to game the system then!
I like how a lot of the old stuff (like post counts) is “hidden” yet still available somewhere - good choice!
