Mik's Build Challenge 2016

Yeah, the Super Bowl really cut into my modeling time, and this evening I had to deal with Mother Nature and shovel the driveway. I still think I can get the rafters glued up for one half side and start on the other tonight. I should probably take the frame to work with me tomorrow and paint it in the shop before the roof goes on.

Oh yeah - Way to go Payton Manning - 200 Wins - all time QB record. You can retire as a hero.

Im finished phew. Just have to let the paint dry and set my scene up on the layout in the brutal cold weather.

Just one little minute there V…you ain’t finished until you show us some pictures and some of the fellas around here get to make “suggestions.” Besides, it’s not natural to be finished with days still to go.

Don’t you mean “pew”, I mean I’m sure that thing is full of them. Looks good can’t wait to see it planted and those questionable lumberjacks being redeemed…

Edit: To say: Ken, that lady sings at the end of the service (http://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

LAST 4 DAYS

26 DAYS DOWN

96 SHORT HOURS TO GO

So far we’ve seen some great things in the works. A couple of you are lagging a bit behind, but with a final push, and maybe an overnighter in there, We can have Challenge Town ready to roll by Tuesday. I know that my punch list on Monday afternoon will be looooooooong.

Soooooo, get off the computer and go detail.

First Timers award.

I am getting ready to cast the trucks for the winner. We need to know who is declaring to be a first timer so we can vote accordingly. I will leave the trucks bare metal (they are pewter) so that they can be painted to your liking unless you want them painted then let me know. Now the only mold I have are a set of wooden bolster arch bars. If this is out of your time frame and you want a more modern steel bolster arch bar or something else let me know and we can work on making another mold. I am not opposed to making a roller bearing truck, or say a bettendorff or I have plans for a steel bolster arch bar. Just might have to wait a bit to get the prototype. So winner let me now what you want.

It is really getting to be crunch time for many. Will you be ready??

There are so many great builds this year. I’m very happy with mine and look forward to finding a spot on the RR for it once the snow melts that is.

Keep up the good work guys and Get er Done !

Yup, I been crunched. I still doubt that it will be done in time. Right now I am waiting, again, for the goop to firm up, again, so I can trim the tin, again.

Crunch, crunch crunch!! It’s not going to be done no matter how much I crunch. But that’s ok 'cause I’ve had fun and still have plenty to do once the challenge is complete. It will actually look pretty neat because you can see each phase of the construction sort of like a cut-away. Can’t wait until next year’s challenge. Hopefully I will be rested by then.

Don't really need to say it,  BUT

15 hrs to go,

unless you feel the need for an all nighter to tomorrow sun up.

Well, the Schmitts have been busting their butts, so maybe they will be getting crude before the closing bell.

I mean, maybe I will have something, enough, done, before the closing bell.

Hey, you got lots of time!

I have not been keeping up in here because I am crunching away. I will have something to show but wont have all I wanted in it. We will see.

Devon, mee too. I mean, have something, but not as junked out as I wanted it.

Yeah, I’ll be up until two or three in the morning tonight, just like I was last year. Then it’s time to take photographs once the sun comes up for sunlit pictures, then I go to work post haste and get back to the real world…or is modelling the real world and work an afterthought?!

Double post…my bad.

I’m excited!

Lets go guys I am waiting to see all the finished, (and not quite, finished) results. As some one fairly new to this site and am watching my first challenge a question Who votes on the winners, I know they are going to have a difficult time picking winners . Thanks to all of the contestants for all the work and all the inspiration, who knows maybe next year I can come up with something to build. APPLAUSE and CHEERS from the stands!

Pete, everyone registered on the site can vote. Please keep an I out for the voting thread that Dave Taylor will start tomorrow or Wednesday. This is my first year participating in the challenge and I have had a great time. The build has been frustrating at times … well, not the actual construction process, but all the little life responsibilities that have gotten in the way which resulted in not finishing the structure. I am already looking forward to next years challenge.
