Hey Ray
Have you tried this yet ?
A good way to sharpen your flying skills .: https://images.app.goo.gl/Drs6BzqtZmjARdHc6
My 2020 trip to explore ghost towns and mining camps of Nevada and the Mojave desert was an incredible experience! I’m currently working on the many videos from the trip, featuring numerous historic sites as well as some stunning scenery and wildlife. Here’s a little preview of what’s to come.

Looking forward to the end product Ray. I have to have a nice cool drink just watching your videos. (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)
Ray, Great intro, can’t wait to see the full adventure series.
Can’t wait, love your videos.
Have you ever been up to the Saline Valley Salt Tram?
“Have you ever been up to the Saline Valley Salt Tram?”
Thanks! Yes, I’ve been there a few times, even shot some drone video of it during this trip. (Just the Saline Valley end, by the salt flats.)
BTW, there was a major screw up when they ordered the tram. They told the company it would be hauling salt, so the company calculated the weight of salt to determine how much the tram could carry. But the mine wasn’t using it to transport dry salt, they were using it to haul wet, brine salt. As a result the tram could only carry have the volume it was intended to, and that hurt the mine’s profitability.
Boxcar Cabin & Lee Mines, CA
This video features the first place I visited during my 2020 Nevada & Mojave trip – the Boxcar Cabin and Lee Mines, CA. You’ll get to see this unique prospector’s cabin inside and out, as well as mining remnants that date back to the 1920s.

Nugget Mine, CA 2020
In this video I check out a former miner’s cabin hidden in a remote canyon of the Mojave desert. This amazing cabin has been well-maintained and apparently still sees frequent use. This was the second site I visited during my 2020 Nevada & Mojave trip

Come along as I visit a fascinating cinnabar (mercury) mine on a mountain peak in Nevada. This mine features an unusual ore bin and two-levels of trestles, built on a rocky cliff. I spent the second night of my trip near this mine and got some spectacular time-lapse shots of the night sky.

Ray,
Thanks for sharing. The scope and remoteness of these works are powerful testaments to the strength of “gold / zinc / mercury / copper / etc. fever.” Oh, and there is no part of my that would step on that trestle! You are a braver man than I!
Eric
Fascinating stuff!
Mina Mine, NV 2020
Join me as I explore the historic buildings at the Mina Mine, a cinnabar (mercury) mine in central Nevada. There are several small shop buildings at the mine, and a large mill. I also found cabins dating back to the mine’s founding, and several other structures including an interesting bunkhouse.

That 4-room bunkhouse would make a fantastic model for near one of my mines.
Lots of cool buildings shown. Are there any pictures of it from back in the day? Must have been some sort of hard life.
Not much rust…too dry?
Better get your crimper in gear, Bob!

Wow… What a fabulous video of a fabulous mine setting.
Ray, your still shots, ground video, drone video, titles, and especially narration, make this a truly wonderful program. If Ken Burns saw this, he’d be jealous as all get out.
I’m jealous, holy cow… I spent my younger years mine hunting in Toulumne and Sonora counties, but left it all for the East Coast when I was 24.
This mine has so much fun structural content, and it’s amazing how much is still standing. Thanks for documenting it all Ray, while it’s still in this condition.
