Loop Rebuild

If you can live without the rivets, the plates are pretty easy to simulate. I have some aluminum that would work great for you, but only enough to do about 6 or 8 feet. PVC is a good option too.

I just used escutcheon pins and some styrene angle when I did my turntable. I would think it would be fairly similar.

Heck, go with Jon’s idea and skip the rivets and it’s even easier. They’re pretty hard to see…

Yup. My back story is that the original bridges were unsafe, so the railroad needed to replace them. No reason to rivet when welding is available

First footing mortared together.

Second footing leveled and assembled, ready for mortar.

Thats looking good Bob.

Thanks. Its coming out better than I had hoped. This is going to be neat once its done.

All mortared together, with a bit of fill up to the bottom level of the block.

Yep…like them there bridge thingees

Thats looking real good Bob. I really like those bridge support legs.

Continuing around the corner, the next footing is lined and leveled, more or less.

Looks like its going to rain, so Ill hold off on the mortar until tomorrow.

Looking forward to seeing a train on it. Looking good.

Bob, I like it… it will definitely give the layout some ““Curb appeal””…

yes that is going to be one nice focal point.

Looking good. I really like those supports and now that you have the actual bases in place I can start to imagine what finish grade will look like.

Yep, same here. The grade will be filled to the rocks, more or less, and back level to the hill behind it. We’re planning low plantings, like thyme, under it, and small plants in front. Higher things behind the track as a view block.

It’s gonna be real neat when it’s done and like Hollywood stated a great focal point!
