LGBoA is back!

And the LGB service department took care of the problems with the initial Mikados and the factory took care of subsequent production runs. There aren't many manufacturers out there who would be as responsive. I've purchased 3 of the 2-4-0 locos and haven't had any problems with them.
But the smart guys were those who didn't buy one of the first series Mikados - just as soon as they read/heard what the problems were. You could ask some of your "Ventilator" friends how many of the 2-4-0s had defective worm/wormgear problems.

As far as responsiveness: any of the MRR mfgs that I had dealings with responded to problems in a timely fashion with both solutions and information as requested.
Had a problem with a TE, called Aristo to clarify, applied the solution I had determined according to the additional info.

Customer bought a MRC unit that can use a tethered throttle, throttle long out of production; but MRC supplied me the schematic of the add-on. I built the customer one that looked and functioned precisely as our hand-helds do. No re-learning!

The MRR mfg that kept telling us “that is proprietary info” was EPL Patentwerk.
So here is hoping that LGBoA’s repair department will have more luck in future than they apparently had in the recent past. Customers like to run their equipment, not ship it back and forth to SD.

Kenny,

Any time a mfgs glitch is mentioned on a forum, in print or in person there are possibilities:

a) some people will take note and use appropiate caution

b) some others will take note and scream “They are bashing ABCXYZ company”

c) others will take their chances and kick themselves later

But as always … to each his/her own … and those who can read and comprehend have a clear advantage!

We’ve had the “fix” for grinding motor blocks for years.
No way will anybody post it.
Too much screaming.

I do see you’ve passed over the BIG 2-4-0 issue.
Talk to someone who runs them a lot (like a restaurant), who was used to the “German” quality.
Find out how many MONTHS they last.

Barry knows how to fix those, too, but we ain’t saying anything.

Right now, it isn’t really about quality as much as attitude.

Whole lot of folks saw the posturing, and we’ll see what happens next, one would guess.

I did like the 13 month week, though.
I’ll have to update my calendar.

When it comes to problems with Large Scale engines the consumer in a lot of cases has to come up with their own fixes. The manufacturers don’t seem to come up fixes until it is a crisis or they are getting beaten up on the forums. As for the fixes the manufacturers come up with being coveed by warranty well sometimes that is left up to how the person you are dealing with feels that day. Strickly my opinion.
Oh and then there is the manufacturer that I can never seem to find what their warranty is whether it is in the paperwork that comes with their product or on their website. Considering they are one of the bigger manufacturers ypu would figure that they would want you to know what their warranty is.
Just venting.

Dave,

On the RhB Forum we are not averse to a spoof or two. A thirteen months calendar with each week clearly marked (right at the top) with “Next week!” sounds like something to consider.

Again, I don’t see the connection between these behind-the-scenes conspiracy theories and the product issues mentioned.

And, I don’t see any correlation between “LGBoA is back” and anything else, since they are not building anything and they never went anywhere in the first place.

Do they have Oktoberfest???

Nice set of jugs. … Ok, I’ll slink back to the doghouse now.

Oh, Chris, how could you? That is what I like about you!

What! You like his jugs?? :stuck_out_tongue:

If’n she tried to serve beers with that much head she would be asked to go back and fill them up.
The mugs that is.

Tony,

Depends if they like Foamer Beer or not.

Things are different at OktoberFest. You only get half value for your money…

That's 'coz yer eyes are glued to the jugs; yez don't notice the mugs. There's strategy in them thar dirndls.

That explains everything… (reels tongue back in)

An eBay listing ending soon from a favourite seller, has a LGB #32420 Zillertalbahn Beer Keg Car highest listing price so far at $511.00 USD. I would think that either the Octoberfest celebrations have affected his bidding or he is not sure that LGB will resume normal production. I have seen some spirited bidding lately, particularly with high prices on White Pass rolling stock items, but this listing has reached about the limit of the seeming impossible. I thought that nearly $1000.00 USD each for streamliner coaches was absurd, but $511.00 for an item that retailed around $109.00 - $120.00.

But he’s buying a Gen U Wine LGB car, not a Marklin look-a-like…

Hey, I got one of them cars!

Hmmmm…

Hey,
I sat in the real one at the Nuremberg Toy Fair with the techinical director of LGB, discussing the LGB request to me to help with the possibility of battery R/C being a part of the LGB program.
Came to nought though as LGB were not prepared to change the loco wiring to suit.
Something they had to do later to accomodate DCC.

Hi Tim I saw that too.... totall MADNESS!

Wanna know the best part, the DAY PRIOR, I lost a bid on the SAME CAR (different auction) my high bid? $76.00 US, the winning bid? $77.00 US …DAM!

The only reason I didnt bid higher was that I didn’t pay attention to the ending time, which was like 5am local time, and it was too late.

So like one day later, two complete idiots get into a bidding war over the same stupid car thats still listed on-line for the same prices you mentioned, Ha! My wife even joked “Why dont you buy one, then put it on Ebay!” Hahaha!

These cars are niether “rare” nor “hard to find” on Ebay, they crop up all the time.

Vic,
it is all down to testosterone levels. When I was building up my Lehmann LCE set, I was after a ‘Bord’ Restaurant car. A particular bidder was showing an intense interest in the same car. I checked his feedback and in the last week he had spent over $2500.00 on eight tickets to two baseball matches. I reasoned that this guy had more money than I, so I stopped bidding around $70.00. The guy won the car for $180.00. This is a car that would normally sell around $65 - $75 in new condition.

When you get two testosterone charged males refusing to back away then we have a contest. There is no way that a Zillertalbahn keg car is worth more than $120.00, so any more than this is simply ego. The chances of a similar contest again, are negligible, so trying to cash in is pointless. Every now and then there is a 'contest' with Union Pacific cars and White Pass cars. It seems cyclic, but trying to predict this phenomenon is beyond my capabilities.
