Don’t pester them HJ. They’re too busy playing trains…
Great day here in Ottawa…blue sky, great sun, and around 10C
Turning kind of nice here too…after a chilly, cloudy morning.
It got so nice around here that I sucked on a few bheers, then changed into a thong, and bare feet…was even so nioce that I dove into the cement pond before I remembered that I had half drained it…the fish were none too happy and proptly threw me back out…
I am now nursing a bit of a head ache, sucking on several fingers of Sheep Dip, and nursing my hurt pride…the blond who just moved into the house behind; must have seen the whole thing and is busy trying to sell the vidio of the whole thing…
I may just show up on your TV screen at midnight…
Fr.Fred
Or she may be collecting it as evidence for your commitment hearing…
Raining like hell here, and windy. I’ve had the hatches battened down all day!

Not what I heard, Chris. They say Fr. Fred is storing up Sheep Dip and preparing to hibernate. He’s leaving that white stuff for the crazy folk.
65 and sunny in the KV…Today was great…started off with breakfast…then ken and I went down to Jane and Andy Clark’s place to see the Bluestone Southern in the flesh…talk about a man with vision!!! What we’ve seen thus merely portents of things to come. Andy is an accomplished scratchbuilder as well! he needs to post more of his stuff over here! Y’all just ain’t got no clue.
Back to Rics for the operation session, lots of folks in attendance, lots of tonnage moved…ran til the batteries were failing after dark. Lots of fun had by all. The off to a local diner…despite the fact we’d grazed on Jan’s wonderful spread all day…now, its lets get ready to do it all again tomorrow…
Chris;
What rotary ?
We got rid of the one attempt at building a rotary, years ago. You must remember that snow around here is not the proper scale and therefore we ignore it.
The whole pike is embargoed for the winter.
First day is under the belt. Ops were suffering at the start because of a mistake on my part. Poor Jane (our loyal Dispatcher) had to suffer through my desires to have the train crews help place the cars in locations. Management will totally take this responsibility of this in the future. Yes, by the end of the day, all equipment and even the labor force was showing signs of wear. Regrouping this AM and we’ll start it all again.
Pictures, by the KVRwy photo team were nonexistant yesterday. That seems to suffer at every session. Hope others got pictures. I know some did, because we have digital cameras laying around. Did you ever notice people don’t put their names on their cameras? Will try to pull this together, today.
Weather was fantastic with highs in the 60’s. Got a fire going in the evening and a young visitor became a pyro as he kept things burning.
Time to get it all going, again. (Big breath) Here we go.
Plenty of pictures got taken Ric, we just haven’t uploaded anything yet! Guess its time to start shopping for a laptop that can run XP my new camera will not talk to 98…So whats fer Breakfast?
Think positive, Barty;
Think of a pint or two of the goodness of Barley at it's best; think J.W.Dundee, with a side of whatever Ric has in his cooler.
…and for you people with any malaise; think of the medicinal properties of Sheep Dip; a dab on your forehead; a dab on the bottoms of both feet; then take the remains of the two fingers and gargle; swallowing after.
note that all suggestions of healthy “Starts for the day”, are based on common sense, and the practise of moderation.
Have fun....and call me in the morning.
Next year I want a live feed to the goings ons.

Its done. Last meal fed and people have gone. Totals show 30 trains run to the RailOps schedule. 157 cars moved and 4,565 tons of freight moved. Not bad for a backwoods, short line tourist railroad. Everyone seemed to have a good time and I know I did. I thank and appreciate everyone’s help, especially all of our friends. I’ll see what pictures ended up in our camera.
And a fantastic time was had by all…Ric learned not to send me and Ken to clean out Old State Light…cause WE WILL!!! HAd several choice runs…and even had to do somethinking outside the boxcar. Lots of good stuff accomplished…Ran trains…ate too much…wore slap out…Thanks Ric & Jan!!!
Here is some of the club watching the activity on the steam track and parts of the railroad.
Tom Wood and Tom Ruby working the line and talking to the Dispatcher at KV Cabins.
Here is a wider shot of the whole area, showing Mac also working close by at Red Bud.
Here is the Southern Yardmaster at Owl’s Bend classifying coal cars at the Chance Coal Processing Plant.
Not everybody had a great time, as Millie stayed close at hand wondering when everyone was going to leave.
Ken Brunt works his train coming down from Steam Track through KV Cabins to Red Bud.
Simple reminders help the train crews remember to report in to the Dispatcher. If the Dispatcher tain’t happy, tain’t nobody happy.
Here is the Consolidated Yardmaster marshalling the trains in his area.
Denny Karner working the Climax up the switchback from Shadow Box at John Allen. That is the new old power plant in the background.
Here is Tom Ruby putting a mighty big Mallet through its switching manuevers at Cat Dump. This engine performed extremely well on 8 foot diameter curves and pulls like a horse.
Just a small sampling of what went on this weeknd. I’m sure others will post pictures in the next couple of days. Great weather, great friends, great fun.
