LOL…I’ll tag it either way Geoff! A need a pin nailer myself, I did some stuff in the past with a brad nailer that I shouldn’t have. Just dig in and try it, that’s how I started. Don’t know what you can accomplish with out trying? Just remember plumb, level, square …
Good luck and we’ll be watching!
Ok so today I got this bright ideal on how to keep the plans clean and laying flat so I can start my building. I took them to Stapels and had them lamenated<— Yes I know spelling sucks deeal with it. I also got a foam board to go under the plans and provid a little protection for the table.

This week I will go get the lumber. Was going to do it today but Lowes was packed and I was not going to deal with that. See Rooster I’m working on it, just not real fast.
Well, 5 pages and at last a start on the project ain’t real bad I’m waiting patiently for the build Geoff.
On second thought I guess we have to give the preplanning it’s place in any build.
Geezus, I had the whole building done in less than 6 pages…
(I wasn’t working in an apartment either…)
I did make a template for the angle on the tower. I also used 3/4" PT plywood as a form, too. Probably should have sent the template along with the plans…

Watch out for the spelling and grammer police from north of 49 though.

Kenn I got jacked for about three pages so we will have to see where it winds up by the time I get done.
I’m certainly looking forward to seeing the progress on this project (no matter how many pages it takes… ).
On a side note, I had used wood dollhouse siding on the tower. Had to rip that off this week and go with the Precision Product stuff. The wood kept warping on me.
I love my pin nailer. I have to say its my best tool. Never have to clamp anything and wait for glue to dry. You can get them cheep from harbor freights. You can a small air pump for a decent price at lowes, homes depot. Worth every cent.
Geoff,
Whut did they soak you for the laminate, if I may ask?
John Bouck said:Jon it was not that bad. It was 33.00 for all three pages and they are 24 X 42. Worth it to me because I can tape them down, wipe them off and not worrie if glue or other stuff gets on them.

That’s not a bad idea. I use waxpaper, taped down over the plans. A bit cheaper, I suppose. That’s a trick I learned while building model airplanes from balsa wood.
Well the wood is cut and the building has started. No pictures of me running the saw as I thought it not smart to hold the camera and try and cut wood at the same time. Here is a picture of frame 1 and 2. This is going to take a bit. frame 1

Yay, build pics.
Nice start Geoff but I don’t think the owner of the coffee table is going to be happy about the nail holes in the top. You have really come a long way in a short while on building. Looks good
worked on getting siding on the second frame tonight. This is going to take a bit. I just hope its done by May before I have to head home to the Railroad.
Sorry no pics tonight.
Ok its time for a Photo update. in order they are wall three, or what is the non track side wall going togather and the doors being fitted to it. The last photo is the first frame with the stain on it. I was going for a look of creisol as its a heave timber frame.

I have also deside on a name that will go on the building once done. Ken’s Polar Ice. I have a Polar ice color stain for the building body. Will start side walls on sunday and the staining of the front and back walls.
Geoff,
Looks like you’re getting pretty good at this stuff
Ralph
Thanks Ralph
we will have to see how it truns out once done. I still have the feeling I’m in over my head but that is how I learned to swim. Tossed in to the deep by my dad, sink or swim so we will have to seeif it works here the same way.
Ok here is todays update on Ken’s Polar Ice building. in order side wall being put togather, then the dry fitting of the sides to make sure everything lines up.
