Looks great so far – will be really nice when it’s finished.

This was a easy building to make changes to and make it yours.

That’s what I liked about it. Plus it had a big foot print for the space I wanted to put it. Very easy to adapt from an ice house to a general store and it had a long loading dock so several cars could be spotted there.

But…I wasn’t going to glue a couple hundred wood shingles on the roof. Been there and done that before…

Ken Thanks again for the plans. I realy do like this ice house. As for a couple hundred shingles, I think that is a little low on the count.

Man there is a serious optical delusion in that picture. I stared at it for 5 minutes trying to figure out why you wrapped the back of the dock roof around and back up inside when I finally realized it was the diamond in the center of the window, not a continuation of the roof line. Couldn’t duplicate that angle again if you tried ! Geoff - Keep plugging away. Only 4,753,925 shingles to go  Looking good so far.

Major problem. I am almost out of shingles. I will make a call tomorrow and get two more bags so I can finish. I just hope next day shipping is not to bad.

Now back to my corner to talk to my self and drule.

How many bags did you use total???
I like the shakes
Rodney

Rodney I started with four bags of the 57003 1/2 X 1 1/4 shingles and I will need 1 more bag most likely but I think I will get two more so I have some extra just in case I need to make repairs some were down the line.

I have to admit. the shingles may take a bit to get them on but it is worth it. The only thing now is to see how she will hold up out side.

How did you put them on. One of our club members uses RTV silicone and has had his outside for years
with no problems.

Ken, that looks great!

I have two smaller shingled buildings outside. One of them has been outside four years and the porch is the only thing I’ve repaired. I haven’t lost a single shingle!

Rodney I am using GE silicone II as per the directions. I do not know what to look forward to as this is my first build with real wood shingles on it. I have a depo that has a wood roof (plywood) and it has started to peel and fall apart after just one summer outside. I bring them all in for the winter. Then again I did not build the depo so I dont know what he used on it.

Geoff your building project looks great and I only have one question. How much did you pay your wife to allow you to use the living room coffee table for your build? There’s not enough money around for my wife to even consider me working in her living room.

Not a dime.

I’m not married, witch is odd cus I thought woman liked men that were handy.

But they’ve seen you put projects on the living room table!

Ok i guess I need to clearify a few things for those that might not know this.
My job brings me out to SoCal for half the year. the winter months. I know its a nasty job but someone has to do it. So why I am in SoCal I work on doing buildings for my RR back in St. Louis. I would never thing of using the living room table to build something in st. Louis I have a dinnig room table for that and its much bigger to work on. Why I’m in SoCal I live in a Aprtment and the only space I have to work on is the coffee table. I make do with what I have. Its not easy trying to build stuff in a apartment with out most of your stuff you need. I did get a table saw and that lasted one day before the neighbor desided are deal was not going to work. So at that point I called Garden Textures and had them send me the rest of the stuff I needed to finish the build. So there you have the short of it. I’m 1750 miles away from my RR and building building for it. Now to just get it home in one piece I will be very happy.

Your neighbor would really have a fit if he heard my commercial table saw!

When we go to Quartzsite, Ariz., I try to remember to take everything I need but there’s always something at home! And never enough clamps!

How do you ship that back to St. Louis???

Bruce I dive out in my truck. Ford f-350 crew cab duelly so I have room in the back. I just hope i pack it well enough to get it home in one peice. Last year I had a building I did get some damage to it on the trip home.
