Groceries

Well edited display Bruce.

Bruce , that isn’t overkill , you have it about right .

Any more would probably make it look cluttered .

I think it looks very good and the grocer has obviously been eating his profits . Nice figure !!

Mike

Mike, you mean a grocer shouldn’t look like that? Every one I have seen does.

Looking great Bruce

WOW!!!

Bruce,

Did you ever say how thick of plastic you are using for the front window? I have a similar window display to build for my feed mill and was trying to think of suitable material to use.

Are you going to wait till spring to place that on the layout or put it out now and see if it survives the “Acorn Bombardment”?..

Another great work of art Bruce. There’s no way I would go to that level of detail for an “outside” building.

Did you make the figure?

I believe it is 1/16" lexan or some sort of polycarbonate.

I wish! That’s one of those pre-painted Fine Folk figures from Warrior Run. I don’t remember who Clem gets to do those, but he sure does a fine job.

I think I’ll wait on Spring to put this one out. The acorns seemed to have stopped, but I’d like to bring it to York and it’s better if it isn’t all dirty.

Yeah, I think it’s a bit overboard as well, but it needed something in that window.

Ah, yes… The shop owner looks very familiar…

Great job, Bruce Great job… Thumbs upThumbs upThumbs upThumbs upThumbs up

Doc, that was the point of my post. There is an awful lot of fine detail work, well executed fine detail work, in that model. More fine detail work then I would want to put outside in my yard, to be ruined by the weather, critters and the ham fisted track crews I have,

An interesting point, but it’s hardly fine detail work. But, even so, I have found that the interior “details” are pretty well protected behind the acrylic windows.

This building has been outside for 3 years and I still enjoy the window detail. I think I need to put something in the windows or they would look too bare.

I agree the windows need “Dressing” but I was actually referring to the fine details of the building.

Not sure how fire the details really are; my philosophy is to build stuff that stands up to the spray from the house.

…and be “Acorn” proof…

Acorns and squirrels and birds…gotta protect from all that plus the weather. Sheesh.

I broke out my Magic-Sculp. I made a hat for the grocer, his son, and a side of beef to hang in the window. I went over to Staples and had them color print a picture I found for the background of the store. It won’t be real visible when it’s all closed in, but should help to create an image of more store.

Bruce , the picture adds a rather effective depth . Smart move .

Mike

There’s a rather large pair of nippers on one of those shelves in there. Who does he sell them too?..

( I ordered some of that brick sheet you used on that. I’m gonna try it out on the one I’m building)

Ken , would it be to large electrical companies ?

Probably the ones with the large employees…
