Did he say he put some “dead fat” on the side of the building?
That looks right spiffy, young fellar…
Thanks, guys. Finally got the front door done, so I thought I’d do more work on the storefront. I also got some other details from Boomer - you can see some of them just setting in place; I haven’t figured out exactly where they will go yet. Signs are decals that I had Stan make.

Nice!. That front really looks good. I think those cans on the picture window roof were the light housings. Did you think about lights there ?
Boo-full…um beautiful. Sorry, was still in character from the Halloween fright house. Shut up, HJ. :). You too, Rooster

Interesting thought. I guess they still could be. I don’t have any real lights on anything. Sometimes I wish I had done it, but I have never operated at night.

Well it doesn’t need lights if you don’t run at night. But the good looking build stays.
Looks good, like something from the 50s
I don’t usually run at night, but the backyard looks cool with a town all lit up back there, weather you run trains or not.
Well, night or day, I needed some more details for the storefront. Plastruct has some solid rod that I cut to length, stacked, and then applied some decals from Stan.

i love the idea of a tin pyramid!
those tin labels are decals?
and what about the boxes? did you make them (how?) or where did you buy?
Korm,
Yes, the labels are all decals. I found some stuff on a doll house page and resized them and had Stan print them as decals. Works pretty well, but the whole process is a bit on the tedious size.
You’ll have to talk to Boomer about all those boxes and crates - those were his donations.
It’s coming to life. Looks good!
Bruce, I just used Plastruct tubes and crazy glued the doll house labels onto the individual “cans”
Jims Printable Miniatures has alot of boxes and labels

I don’t remember where I got these labels, but somewhere via Google. I thought about printing and cutting, but I was a bit worried if they would hold up since they will be outside all year. I think my fingers are too fat to glue these little things in place.
I also wanted to use solid rods so you don’t see any holes. Though I suspect that viewing will be so distant you’ll barely make out the cans.
Great work, Bruce… Yes, I can certainly imagine the “tedious” nature of the job…
I was wondering about the when I printed the art work…
Again, super job…
Bruce: A question, please. Do you bring you building in at the end of a run? or just at the end of the season?
Paul Austin
Paul,
Buildings stay out all year. Vehicles and people as well.
Although there are times it is difficult to say they are out there.
That was a DEEP snow…here’s a shot of my yard…
Great building work Bruce., I am sure my wife would patronize the store… Now as for the snow pics, well, that’s fine on Christmas Cards but no way I would like having that dumped in my back yard. Snow is rare here.
I could probably spend days building more cans, but I think I’ll go with this. As it is, it’s probably overkill.
