Ahhhhhhh... HJ, at least, all the cars getting shuffled have the "when return empty to" set. Ah HA!
When you edit a car, there is a dropdown to select where it belongs. Its recent, in, er, (/me checks release notes) .52
BoB,
Just installed Build 53, try-out to follow a bit later.
A note on ‘return when empty’, and how cars will move for them. If you have RWE set, the car, when empty, will get routed back to the SIDING that the industry sits on, not the industry itself. Then, in a future date, when the car is needed, you will see a movement from the siding TO the industry.
OK, that is logical! The question will be; when called for will it be one move i.e. get empty, load, ready to go? or two moves 1. get empty … next cycle … 2.load to go?
Boy, have I got a lot of catching up to do!
Bob,
Less shuffling, trains being built!
But it still does some weird and curious things. I’ll be revamping the siding names (make them standout at a glance) to see what the remaining shuffling does.
Which reminds me: for Beta purposes, how about adding a directory that automatically stores the generated lists for a given day? Or is that the planned “Train history”?
PS the TOWN NAME will be in capitals for the sidings.
More puzzles: How could the tankcars (all four of them) be moved as empties to the Cement Works? Where do the loaded Cement Cars (8073 and 8068) in Landquart come from if they’re a pickup from the UNTERVAZ Cement Works siding?
One glitch that I seem to be encountering and judging by the screen shot that HJ has posted in the previous post that he seems to be encountering also, is the failure to assign a caboose to the train. I have 3 but it assigns the same caboose all the time to the one train and doesn’t assign any caboose to the second.
Another thing was the Interchange. At Burns Jct. If I checked off the siding as being switched it would shuffle the cars around there. If I leave it unchecked it works more like an Interchange than an industrial siding. By that I mean it just picks up cars there to be delivered to other industries on the layout and then drops of other cars that have been picked up.
Sorry Ken, RhB doesn’t use cabeese. That’s why they’re missing in my scheme.

Hans-Joerg Mueller said:Ok then. Then I hope you don't mind me using that graphic as an example since my "Train Detail" window shows the same thing, only it should be assigning a caboose.

Cabeese don’t get assigned, you pick em like you would a locomotive.
Well, I tried that too, but after typing it into the 'caboose" on the “Train Detail”, it comes out blank on the switch list. Plus there’s none listed in the drop down menu. Not that it’s a big deal…I can tack one on in the yard.
Do you have cabeese defined under Configure / Caboose ?
Yea, I have 3 listed there…#'s 587, 0401 & 0404…plus 4 loco.s but it only is using 2 …

Bob,
I see that you have gotten cars on my Lewiston Local (still no cars for Montgomery turn) but the train has more cars for some industries than the siding for that industry will hold. Is that the way it is suppose to work? If it is, there’s no real problem as each town has a lead track long enough to handle some extra cars that might not have fitted at the assigned industry - I just didn’t know whether or not the progran was suppose to assign more cars to an industry than that industry was capable of handling. Do you know why there are still no cars for the Montgomery Turn? Looks like half the customers on the railroad will be happy but the other half won’t be! Thanks again.
Yea, I need to reload your DB here, Fred and see if I can tell why cars arent moving in that direction.
