Large Scale Central

G Scale Central

The nice thing about this place is that we are self moderating.

I know my limitations.

H-J and I both suffered from a rather scathing view of folks who posted fifty-line reports of ‘the red box arrived on the front step and my heart was a-tremble as I carefully unboxed the box from the box it was in, savouring the green and white stripes, cunninlgy and carefully designed to draw the eye around to the flap, awaiting my trembling hands…’

On a similar note… Someone over at MLS asking “Does anybody have any experience “fixing” the plastic shield on old LGB packaging? I have a few older cars where the plastic has torn that I’d like to fix. Just didn’t know if it would actually work and look like the original packaging. Thanks.”

I guess my old LGB boxes and ‘cardboard’ sleeves might be worth something. I wonder if it could be enough to fund a new piece of equipment?

Don’t hold your breath Craig.

I don’t know… It’s only been touched by me since it left the LGB factory… In high school I worked in LHS and when we got new LGB shipments I used to set aside one or two for me. Having been only ‘touched’ by one person should add some value, right?

I guess I don’t see the value in an empty box…

Craig,

That stuff used to show up on eBay.
I’m flattening and recycling what I have stored, a little bit at a time.

I don’t see any value in it either or than a place to safety store rolling stock…

If I had even a 10% chance of not getting ripped a new one on joining GSC, I’d do so. But a lifetime ban means a lifetime ban, and in spite of the ‘matey’ assertions of the owner [?] who now seems to be male, rather than a female with an agenda, I’m inclined to stay clear.

But you are a member of LSC, Tac.

Hits forehead.

tac got confused with the acronyms. He’s got CRS (can’t remember stuff).

Empty train boxes are a nuisance to store. However, when vintage Lionel trains became popular in the seventies, higher prices could be had if the item was still in it’s original box. This only means something if someday, you have to sell your trains for whatever reason.

Well, I’VE just sent a few folks here a pic of MY latest attempt at scratch-building - an MoW caboose conversion on a spare AMS flat car.

I liked what Tac did with this Mow caboose conversion, and with his permission to post, I have created a post in the Modeling Forum

way too often that one does not have access
or has to search for a long forgotten password.

Hey Korm

The problems with signing in etc have been cured. It was all down to the ‘revamping’ of the forum and the ‘glitches’ that arose.

It would be good to see your work again. I was always in awe of your use of what was at hand.

I would really like to see how your trestle final;ly ended up. It was a goo project.

I am known as ‘beavercreek’ over on the GSC.

I joined, then somehow got into a state where I had to be activated, and no amount of emails got it done.

Not enough there either.

Greg

Sorry that the GSC disappointed you Greg.

I have always admired your insight, experience and knowledge. but…

Perhaps you are too far advanced for us over here or perhaps, in your view, the GSC members are just not in your league. But having been on all three forums (LSC, GSC and MyLargeScale) amongst others, I can honestly say that there is information content on all forums that is worth looking at no matter what one’s interest might be.

I feel that any person who says that one forum is better than another is probably missing the point.

All forums have their difficulties at some time or another and also all forums have differing strength of content at different times that might suit different tastes but not at other times.

Anyway, each to their own and all that…

Well put, Mike.

I’d be happy to drop in once in a while and contribute where I can, but just could never get out of the endless loop of getting an authorization email.

I should have put my post that it was not important enough for me to put further energy into trying to get the login endless loop fixed.

Maybe if someone there can “reset” my login, which is tied to [email protected], and a login name just like here, I could get on the site…

So Mike, if you are listening, if you can give my login there a “reboot” I’ll try again…

Regards, Greg

Hi Greg

I am not the GSC forum owner or manager. I am just another member stating my view.

Paul Spann is the owner of GSC and I am sure if you were to drop him a line. If you would like me to do it for you I would be only too glad.

Hopefully GSC might have some stuff that even you might find interesting…
