:D Won't be to hard to fix. Cutting all the down trees will take a bit longer. Ralph
Ralph, sorry about your railroad…
Texas drivers are great in snow and ice, the first thing they do while driving in these conditions across a bridge is hit the brakes… Then, it’s all over… However, they do spin nicely, just before they leave the highway…
Well we got an estimated 18 scale feet [9 inches] here on the POOL GRR in Caddo Mills. I’ve got photos but can’t figure out how to post them here.
Andy
The reason “Texas drivers are great in snow and ice, the first thing they do while driving in these conditions across a bridge is hit the brakes… Then, it’s all over… However, they do spin nicely, just before they leave the highway…” is they are going at least the posted speed if not higher. They have never been taught how to drive on ice & snow or even rain.

Also no operations on the KMRR until I can dig through the 4-5ft snow drift that ended up on the layout LOL I have been keeping busy on the snowmobile and snowshoes.
I’ve also noticed that southern cars seem to all have “slicks” for tires? That might have something to do with it right?
Chas
Snowing pretty heavy here for the last couple of hours. Ground is white.
The snow was forecast to go south of us. It must of took a jog to the north.
Ralph
Looks like Cale has been getting some snow today. Ralph
Glad I didn’t move South to escape winter
You southerners need to graduate into “big boy” underware and get out of those disposable pull ups !

Roger Houser said:Gee. At first glance I thought you were talking about the parts of England that get snow. lol Luckily we rarely get any here but 10 miles northwards it can be a different world.
David There a reason Texas shuts down with 1". The idiots here have trouble driving on dry pavement. Rain raises the risk 5 fold. Snow & ice you need guardian angel. I have driven in snow in Colorado, New Mexico & Texas. Now I just stay home.
A few shots from behind the house. We ended up with about 5 inches on the cold surfaces. A little less on the warmer surfaces. Ralph

Isn’t it funny how most weather stops at both the Northern and Southern borders of the US of A, on American weather maps.
We do have weather here in Canada, and a bit of snow too…
If you want a more realistic Radar and satelite view of North American weather, just google; “The Weather Network”. They admit that the US and Canada, both have weather that goes across the border.
With all the snow that covers the US of A; I’m sorry to suggest, that when the real melt starts…LOOK OUT FOR FLOODING…it is going to be a very bad year for Spring floods.
If you live on an area that has been known for flooding in the past, and have a lot of snow now…be prepared for a very wet Spring.
If you just live in a very low area, and have a wet year every year…get the boat ready…you may not need a trailor to get it to water this year.
Good luck to you all…get the sand bags filled, and the pumps ready. It isn’t going to be a nice Spring.
Yes Friar, the weather this winter has been different for sure. I live in south central BC and the snow was gone shortly after new years. Has been going slightly below freezing most nights but warm temps in the days. Right now it’s 52 F…same as northern Florida.
Go figure??? The guys in the northeast gotta be getting fed up by now.

I’m kind of happy that my tax dollars aren’t monitoring snowfall north or south of the border. Get your own weathermen!

Randy McDonald said:Funny (strange, not necessarily amusing) thing is that in our piece of southeastern Ont, we haven't had any significant snowfall since before Christmas. We're getting a dusting right now; I might have to slide the shovel down the front walk in the morning. Forecast is for "flurries" all week. You guys south of the border have my sympathies. However, I shall be very happy if it stays down there and we do not have a repeat of last March. (Not to mention last May, June, July and August).

I’ve had enough of winter. I’m missing my swimming pool.
