February Snow

Isn't it funny how most weather stops at both the Northern and Southern borders of the US of A, on American weather maps.

We do have weather here in Canada, and a bit of snow too…

If you want a more realistic Radar and satelite view of North American weather, just google; “The Weather Network”. They admit that the US and Canada, both have weather that goes across the border.

C’mon, Fr. Fred. Brian got most of B.C, though he did miss Vancouver Island.

Is Victoria no longer part of B.C? :stuck_out_tongue:

However, this just in from Environment Canada

The sun and two 30+ degree days have brought a glimmer of hope on open areas of the RR.

There must have been some substance to that old saying that the Saints will win the Super Bowl when hell freezes over…

When I used to do public service, I noticed that the danger zone from a nuclear plant in NY State fanned out on the west side of the plant (prevailing winds) but abruptly stopped at the Connecticut border. On one side of the state line you would have a full evacuation in case of an incident, and one inch to the East there would be no evacuation. Not even a warning.

Moral of the story - Don’t live on the leeward side of a nuclear plant, especially if it’s in the next state :o

To get back on topic, we are supposed to have snow tomorrow night, finally.

So, what do you do when you’re surrounded by 4 of them… Be careful what you wish for, Jon…here’s our house during the last blizzard…

Taken by a neighbor from their front porch…

We are expecting another 3 to 6 inches of “global warming” on the ground tonight into tomorrow. That will make a total of 25 to 28" over the last ten days.

Thought some might like to see these snow photos from our place in Colorado. Lots of snow on the roof:

Getting it off the roof:

Sure is pretty:

Matt,

What a nice place there in CO. That last pic is calendar material!!

Matt,
You have a metal roof just let the sun do the work and it all slides off. Beautiful property BTW!

I have been getting some heavy snow all day today. I took the oppertunity to do some cross country skiing in my local state forest. And everyone thinks NJ is the armpit of the nation. LOL

Shelter along the Appalachian trail.

Shawn - Where you live don’t qualify as Jersey :o When I think of Jersey, its Port Elizabeth, Newark and all the refineries along the turnpike.

We were forecast to have a dusting. Started around 10 last night and still snowing. Only about 6 inches of very wet stuff though.

New Jersey is NOT the armpit of the nation, maybe a a few feet south of that though.

We call Jersey the dirty side of the river here in Eastern PA.

Shawn,

Having been born in Teaneck, raised in River Vale, and left Paramus (all on the east side of the state) I definately qualify the east side as the ‘Garbage State’ and most certainly the dirty side. There is absolutely some beautiful locations once you get west of 87(?) out towards Blairstown. (I miss the ‘Rock Pile’ - Boy Scout Camp ‘No-Be-Bo-Sco’) I left in '85 and have been back only a couple of times.

I do so enjoy the pics you post of the west side of the state. It demonstrates the side worth going to see.
