February Snow

Shawn,

Having been born in Teaneck, raised in River Vale, and left Paramus (all on the east side of the state) I definately qualify the east side as the ‘Garbage State’ and most certainly the dirty side. There is absolutely some beautiful locations once you get west of 87(?) out towards Blairstown. (I miss the ‘Rock Pile’ - Boy Scout Camp ‘No-Be-Bo-Sco’) I left in '85 and have been back only a couple of times.

I do so enjoy the pics you post of the west side of the state. It demonstrates the side worth going to see.

Camp No-Be-Bo-sco I know it well AKA crystal Lake (Friday the 13th) The northwest part is no doubt nice.

Yup. I worked in Paramus, Hackensack and Hasbrouck Heights. None of which I would call desirable places to live. When we drive through Jersey, it’s usually down 287 which goes through some of the nicer parts of the state, but still East of Shawn’s area.

Thought some might like to see these snow photos from our place in Colorado. Lots of snow on the roof:

Getting it off the roof:

Sure is pretty:

I thought it was suppose to snow in Colorado? Looks good, but that State is kind of know for pretty scenes and lots of snow. Us flatlanders and coastal folks aren’t used to that stuff.

Our layout is still almost totally buried. Been out of commission for about three weeks now and at the rate it’s snowing, we won’t have trains running before the ECLSTS

I have been getting some heavy snow all day today. I took the opportunity to do some cross country skiing in my local state forest. And everyone thinks NJ is the armpit of the nation. LOL
Armpit? heck no. Joisy is where you would stick the enema into America!

You want a “garbage state”? Ever drive through north Florida? Now, that’s some white trash heaven!

Here we go again more snow. SNowing now and picked up 2 inches, suppose to get 3-5 inches tonight and then another monster strom is in the works for Thur-fri. Local mets are saying the biggest one yet this year. This one is aiming more for north jersey and North. I might not see my layout until may if this happens.

Yup -

Sunday the high sun angle and moderate temps melted nearly all of the snow pack in my yard. I could see almost all the track. It’s been snowing since 11 last night, but its still warm and accumulations are very light. There are predicting over a foot for the Thur/Fri storm here. That really sucks. Marilyn has hardly worked at all this month between holidays, in-service days and snow days.

Up to 7 inches of snow for today and still snowing heavy. Its going to be a while before I see my layout and the thur-fri storm is looking like a biggy Im hearing 30+ inches and might be the biggest storm this area has ever seen. We will see

Bout' time someone else got it good! Calling for 10" more here thursday into friday. We'll see? Honestly I like the seasons here but about had enough of the snow....biggest issue is where the hell do you put it all! :)

All this snow is because it is getting warmer. I still have 16" of snow in the yard from the last two storms.

Box it up and ship it to Ralph or your Dad. They could use it. :)

Ya there all out right now and if he had snow then he could not see all the work he still needs to do onthe railroad. ;)

I don't need it. I got enough exercise shoveling 200' of driveway the last three times it snowed. We may get 3 inches tomorrow. I hope that's all. I still haven't bought a snow shovel. Ralph

Up to 5 inches predicted here…and the piles on the side walk are still taller than 5 feet. We have not reached the average high all month.

11.4 inches was the final total from yesterday. Starting late tonight another 12-24+ inches and its suppose to be a very wet snow. I will no doubt loose power if that is the case.

All the snow is caused by ““Global Warming””…

No, all the snow is caused by climate change, a much better term.

Walt

Got 7 inches already and the worst is yet to come. Getting reports of power outages and doubt I will keep mine much longer.
