Well, they're saying that they can't use their pick up fleet to clear the subdivisions because the snow is too deep; last snowstorm they cleared right away, but it was only 6 inches.

I heard that here in Northern Virginia we have 9,000 miles of subdivision roads to clear. It’s going to be awhile.

According to the GroundHogs®, only 5 more weeks to go.  Will they clear the roads or just wait for it to melt???

Contrast that with the Olympics situation, snow being trucked and choppered in from quite some distance. When they announced, way back when, that certain events were to be at Cypress Mountain I questioned their sanity. I had then only lived in BC for 3 years.

Some Snowmageddon pix-

Mount Brian is about 7 feet tall. Blacktop from my house to the main road is the only clear road in the neighborhood.

The main layout -

and the 7/8’s layout. Front center you can see the dome of one of the landscape lights which are ~30 inches tall -

Hell …I can’t even see my garden lights and those bonner’s at Gobblers Knob that pulled that oversized rat outta the hole have less snow than us.
I’m so excited about the forecast for tomorrow into Wednesday. NOT!

Bruce, Hope you were able to stock up on eggs, milk and bread. It is a well established tradition to make french toast anytime it snows or threatens to snow. I don't understand the tradition, but we stock up.

We went south, 28 miles, and over ate lasty night while a feetball game was on TV. Great fun. Jane way over served us. I may eat again Thursday.

Even though we didn’t get any of the last snow, Marilyn and I made up a nice batch of French Toast on Sunday in honor of all you guys that got buried with it.

The say we will see the next one on Wednesday - about a foot.

They changed the forecast

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT FROM NOON TUESDAY TO 7 PM EST WEDNESDAY.

  • PRECIPITATION TYPE… SNOW.

  • ACCUMULATIONS… 10 TO 20 INCHES.

So far, we’ve had sunny skies and mid 40’s F temps for the last 2 weeks, here in beautiful downtown Deer Park. Not like last year, when I had to use snowshoes to get out to the satellite dishes. I could just step of the deck around the house onto the top of the 4 ft deep snow.

Steve ,
There you go again not talking about trains .You must be as confused as I am .
Mike

In spite of the snowflake arriving at just past three o’clock yesterday afternoom we managed to get a 40-minute live-steam run in before the next one fell.

This morning is sunny, though, in spite of severe weather warnings, so me my Timmy mug are going to be out there shortly, running both Shays and the as-yet unnamed ‘Earl/Countess’ with her spankin’ new train.

Bliss.

and no pictures to share with us. I think their should be a new rule if you talk about running trains you need to provide pictures espcially for those who are not good with there imagination. LOL

I have winetr storm warning up for 12-18 inches. This morning is 24 and blue skies. Going to run some trains before the storm hits. (calm before the storm)

So nice not to have to shovel snow anymore. Fun watching everyone else. Later RJD

THE WINTER STORM WARNING HAS BEEN CANCELLED.

BLIZZARD WARNING IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST THIS EVENING… :frowning: :frowning:

We’ve got 12" that I just shoveled and now they call for 16" + and blizzard condition

Bruce and David,
Glad to hear the snow storm is over. I’m sure the bllizzard will be easier, maybe the word should be different to deal with. It blew through here yesterday, so its moving fast.

Ric it arrived here yesterday at 2PM and hasn’t left.

We are already prepping for the next one building down in Texas. Good to see a real Winter for a change. Anybody heard from Algore, lately?

WoW! Hope the power stays on for you guys.

Over? I think not. We've been "upgraded" to a worse condition than before.

A BLIZZARD WARNING MEANS SEVERE WINTER WEATHER CONDITIONS ARE OCCURRING. DO NOT VENTURE OUTSIDE. THIS IS A LIFE THREATENING SITUATION FOR ANYONE WHO BECOMES STRANDED.

FALLING AND BLOWING SNOW WITH STRONG WINDS WILL CREATE WHITEOUT CONDITIONS… MAKING TRAVEL EXTREMELY DANGEROUS.

We obviously still have power. It’s cold and windy and white outside.
