February Snow

Clear and sunny today, but cold - 18 right now

The bad news is that the Direct TV antenna is covered and I can’t get a signal. Wouldn’t mind so much except the SuperBowl is on tonight. I hoping the snow melts a bit, as the antenna is on the roof. I think I’ll look at FiOS once I can see the grass again.

I got…rain…no snow…and the Sattellite reception is fine…heheheheheh but since REAL sporting events don;t start til NEXT Sunday in Daytona…I’m finishing the Shay

Got out today for pics after close to 30" of fall

Out over the yard While I was out I figured I might as well do some extreme railroading

Out there in the Northwest Territory they have a train show scheduled for next Sunday. And their only concern was that it was Valentines Day :o Go figger Ralph

Nice pictures. Looks like you got hammered.

You don’t need air conditioning, at this point. Things change
Ralph

6 to 8 inches forecast for Tuesday night.

I quit.

Gee, Thanks Bruce. You make good news seem so easy

What a bunch of maroons around here.

One guy in his Honda Civic - “I don’t understand. Last snow storm I took this car everywhere.” Yeah, last storm was 6 inches. Got stuck 3 times in 100 yards.

Guy in Jeep with 2 feet of snow on top…stuck. Needed to borrow a shovel. I guess he never thought he should take one along.

I can’t imagine why anyone would go out unless they need medicine for a sick baby. Or a cold beer.

If you got a sick baby in a snow storm, you’re going to need a beer or some rum. Snowing right now in St. Louis, but we have sunshine right now. Wish you luck and don’t turn into a victim of this event.

Move North to Ottawa, and avoid the snow and the cold…!!!

Fortunately, I missed having to drive through the blizzard. I followed it up the east coast from JAX to Middletown, DE. on Saturday. From what I can see about the state of Virginia regarding snow is that they are a very ecologically friendly bunch of people. No salt to melt the ice, not even a polluting snow plow on the road. They just wait for the sun to melt it. Fortunately, the morons stayed home on Saturday and I didn’t have to deal with them like the last time. I was given a blow by blow description on my way north by the wife in between her bouts of battling the blizzard. until she gave up shoveling and waited for the neighbor to come over with his snowplow. His only comment was"How does he do that? How does he manage to be in Florida when we get a snow storm?"… Just lucky, I guess… When I got home Sunday morning this is what I found. Layout? What layout? Where?

Pretty pictures Ken. Thanks for sharing.

Over two feet here drifts up to four feet. Got the power back 4 am this morning after it went off 5 am Saturday morning. Been trying to keep the house moderately warm (50’s) by keeping both fireplaces going. I spent the last two days on the tractor. Cleared a path from our cul de sac to the main road. Much of the neighborhood is pretty impassable. I’m working my way through to my regular plow customers at the other end but have to clear a path in the road first. Will be another 3 days on the tractor at least.
Went to the bro n sis in laws house in DC to grab a hot shower, hot food and catch the last half of the game (who dat with da Lombardi trophy!)
More snow tomorrow night. I’m moving to Miami!

There is exactly no snow in my house… It’s warm, the computer & TV works… Sunday, had some wonderful friends over, to watch the ““Game””, and partake of just a little food…

We are expecting about 5 inches of the white stuff, but it’ll be outside…

It’s still a place in my recovery that I do not venture…

We hiked over to the grocery store this morning; luckily it’s only a mile. Main roads seem just OK. The main drag has one lane down to the pavement and just a thin layer of snow on the rest. There’s no way we’re getting out of here anytime soon.

That my mailbox on the left; there’s a road under there somewhere. Lots of folks getting stuck on that today.

Its amazing to see how areas deal with snow. Up this way all roads would have been cleared by sunday morning. Then yet we are more use to the snow then down their. Lucky you another storm on way. Im forcast for 15-18 inches wed unless it tracks more south then bruce you guys get it bad again. You wont see the tracks until may

Well, they’re saying that they can’t use their pick up fleet to clear the subdivisions because the snow is too deep; last snowstorm they cleared right away, but it was only 6 inches.

I heard that here in Northern Virginia we have 9,000 miles of subdivision roads to clear. It’s going to be awhile.

Bruce,
Hope you were able to stock up on eggs, milk and bread. It is a well established tradition to make french toast anytime it snows or threatens to snow. I don’t understand the tradition, but we stock up.

We went south, 28 miles, and over ate lasty night while a feetball game was on TV. Great fun. Jane way over served us. I may eat again Thursday.

We are buried–there is still just shy of three feet of snow in the street. No driving anywhere. We live on a hill and a bunch of us built a bobsled run–banked turns, bumps. Kids are crashing all over the place

Mike,
That’ll get you sued, better have them signing releases. Glad to hear you guys are okay. Ah the joys of watching the Winter Olympics and then trying to duplicate it. I still wear a scar on the chin, from an event like that 47 years ago.
