…grinning…

Im thinkin hot pink might look nice on that diesel with rainbow stripes.

Toned down rivets where not needed or looked incorrect. Most HO models and other scales have this loco all over the board which has become more difficult to make than originally thought… Real prototypical pictures tell the truth though…the printed pics seen in some shots are not mine but I credit the photographer where necessary. Realistically I have based most of my roof line detail from pictures “I” took on the hospital parking garage roof while awaiting my sons birth. This build is so off the cuff it ain’t funny. What I thought would be easy judging the clean lines has turned into “details make the difference” and then some. I can’t handle long drawn out builds I wanted it done yesterday but learning patience… What the hell did I get myself into?

Jerry, I can see inside the radiator grates on the last shot.

That’s really looking great Dave. How are you doing the rivets?

Rooster, Long and drawn out builds? I don't think so. You get more done in a day than I do in a week. And you do much finer work to boot. Between you and Shawn, I'm starting to think I got screwed because I don't have A.D.D. :D Ralph

Now that is funny!!! LMAO You don't want it ....Trust ME!

David it’s coming along great!!! Even Bruce and Bart gotta think it’s gonna be a beaut.

Dave, No Bull this is really turning into one excellant build. Qudos on the work.
From your statements I think you have found out a diesel has just as many detailing bits as a steam engine. What with all the radiators, hatches, hinges, fans, lights, etc. a diesel is as hard to model as a steam engine. And just think when you go to model the trucks and under carriage you get to do all the speed recorders, chain restraints, mu hosing, and whatever else they put under those things. Damn all that reminds me of that song title “We’ve Only Just Begun”.
Thanks for the great detail photos too. They really help. May I impose on you to broaden my knowledge of diesels by asking you to name some of the roof detail as you go? I’m not sure what that small T profile item is between the fans?

Looking good, where did you get the fans? I tried getting some from Rex, but he never sent any.

Crazy too think how it started…

Ralph, ...I got Jerry covered if he needs me:) I prefer to use what I have on hand(considering the fans) and I have no clue as to whom Rex is other than I dog I remember that would hump your leg and chase cars :)

Hey is this going to be like your buildings and you’ll be able to take it apart to put away when you’re done?

OK so I added more roof panels up to the cab line today and sorta got hung up as I’m still not quite sure how I’m gonna tackle the cab area and I’m not real happy with the outlines of the cab windows.

So I decided to work on the sides getting the rails and stiles in place making the doors and hinges and just some detail work here and there. All while thinking about the cab area but still no real plan of attack just yet.

Still got a long way to go yet but happy with the results so far!

Looking great David, coming along well. You know you have to get it done before those ECLSTS guys invade your place tho. Your way more talented then Shawn’s rooster.

Use some chicken wire for the cab.

Randy I wish my rooster could build things. I should bring him to york and maybe Rooster can teach him a few things

There were lot's of mistakes made in the beginning and trying to correct them as I go. The cab has got me so hung up it's not funny. Trying not to obsess on this but it's real hard not too. For me it's kinda like when I built my house in 1:24 and making the "witches cap" or turret correctly, had me hung for awhile but I eventually got it as I will this model. ;)

Actually some the 40's that ran in the Philadelphia area(N.E. Corridor) had this over the front windshield. :)

Dave, Jack Verducchi(spelling) did an article in GR on 1/32 pass car set and had to do the windows flush instead of recessed. Have you looked at that article for your windows?
Nice work
