Large Scale Central

F-40 in 1:29th

OK so I’ve had a nut for one of these units for a long time. I had an opportunity to purchase one in 1:32 scale but declined as it wouldn’t work with my overall plan. Since I have been “goaded” into building rolling stock recently I thought I would make an attempt at building one in 1:29. I’m working on a shell that I would like to be a direct fit over USA’s Geep 7/9 chassis with minor modifications. However this plan may not pan out and I may end up making a “Cabbage” unit for my first attempt on it’s own chassis. Either way here are a few shots of where I’m at. Materials so far are cedar, pvc, stryene and tuf board@

Thats looking good so far. Sorry you lost your nut. That sucks. At least you have one more. LOL

Don,t know shawn, think that rooster’s got more than a coupla nuts. Whole bag full. LOL.
Good start Dav.
Randy

That looks neat. Nice modelling.

Looking real good, Rooster.
I like the diesels too.

But Barbie and Ken own a Corvette not a VW? So why would you like diesel's? :)

She’s starting well

Let’s see, F40 in 1/29 = F40/29, so this one would be an F1.3?

Looks good Dave. That should look good with those Bi-level dome cars.

Son, nice start… looks almost real… <Cept for the wood & plastic parts>…

Barbie who? Last time I saw Ken, he was driving a mini-van. And only old hippies drive the "peoples car". But what does all that have to do with Diesels ;) Ralph

Way to build what you want, keep us posted.

OOO…neat

Made a bit of progress on this model considering what “Mother Nature” has dumped on us (snow wise). I have been quite busy and more snow coming. “The Sky is Falling The Sky is Falling”

The Nose would be great if it was an SDP45…I’ll fix that later. The lines on this unit even though they seem straight forward are more difficult than expected and there are so many variations of the F40 4 axle unit it ain’t even funny. But I’m learning and enjoying. I cannot understand how I burn up 2hrs modeling after work and feel like it was 5 minutes.

David,

It’s looking great. Are you working from drawings or just from photos?

Keep up the good work.

Brian

Nice.
A bird of many talents
Ralph

Looking real good. Got to ask what are you using to cut your panels? Is that one cut or multiple cuts?

Brian,
Just photo’s and please don’t tell me you have a link to scale drawings or I will smash the whole project as it won’t be correct!

My car keys! ;)

I’d be careful with those car keys, you might wind up scratching the finish.

OK since I was snowed in today (what a shame) decided to make use of my time . Started with shortening up the nose

Then like the prototype decided to cut out a section for (whatever the hell it is that goes there)

Then I made a grate’s to cover both sides of (whatever the hell it is) intake ducts?

Installed the grate and need to add trim

I shot some sandable primer on the LH side just to see where I was at and so far so good!
