Rooster, nice work!

Thats actually pretty impressive for a powered boxcar…

Wow, that sure is looking good. I hope you can bring it to York this year!

Okay, so if a diesel engine is a powered boxcar, then a steam engine must be a clogged drainage pipe.......... :)

No, it's a fire breathing, smoke belching, steam powered clogged drain pipe................there's a difference...;)

And I thought it was a fire breathing, smoke belching, tea pot.

Dave - That’s really looking like a serious model. Be careful or you’ll be buying a riveter soon !!!

Whatday mean Ya wish you were set up for molds? Nothing hard or technical about mold making…whatcha need to know about it?

Bart, Read several articles on it (mainly by Burl Rice) and have tools needed to make them (with a real good automotive grade vacuum pump that will pull a constant 28hg) but kinda un charted water for me and just need to dig in I guess. Molds for the dynamic braking and intake grates(so far) would be nice but overall Is it possible to make a mold for the entire loco itself if I keep these parts removeable?

Honestly I will be using a lot of Charlie Ro’s parts on this build so perhaps if I spend the extra time on finish maybe others could have a model that is currently not available but sorta sought after for the diesel guys?
Not interseted in making $$$ just sharing and learning…I look at the baggage 1300 series (shorty) car I whipped up for a challenge here and disappointed I didn’t spend more time on it in certain area’s.
The loco has a long way to go yet and sorry for the book but you asked. Did I mention I’m very A.D.D and have issues with focus.

Diesels rule and you suck Ken for knockin’ them!
I got your “cupcake” right here!

Phthhhh I cast all the time without vacuum pumps and all that…get a simple set of stuff from MicroMArk and away we go…I even cast my own truck sideframes… have done so fer years…

NO issues with air pockets? Will have to look at the MM catalog again.

I can ...but gonna bring this and run it on the Timesaver http://www.largescalecentral.com/LSCForums/viewtopic.php?id=12141&p=1

So this weekend along with building Ralphie The Rail Scale I managed to pick at the radiators, recessed the steps into the cab, shorten up the cab door window as it was too large and a few other things were added as well. Not sure I like the radiators just yet but once they are trimmed out I feel they will have the look I’m after. The radiator grates will be the next hurdle but I have a plan.

Well? Is it done yet? Got it looking this good and stopped?

NO I didn’t stop, just kinda hung and tooling around with it but still making progress. I got the front glass figured out and started putting a skin on the roof and sides. Trimmed out the intake and dynamic brake ducts made the A/C unit and other roof junk. Still working on the radiators with the shutter assemblies… etc…so here’s another pic dump. Also discovered Krylon now has a black primer that is wet sandable and I really like it so far. Any questions?

How are you doing the beading around the glass?

How come you didn’t paint the grooves around the panels? Like the beading around the windows. Man, slow down you’ve got three weeks before drag and brag, and even then it doesn’t have to be finished.

Very thin copper wire in black conduit not sure of the gauge.

I need too .....seriously , I still have a RR buried under snow in sections and have a crew coming here in 30 days!

Seeing the carnage as the snow receed’s

If you need help hollar. By the way, I really like the way the details are turning out. The A/C must have been tough. What did you use for the fan detail?
Just think only 26000 more views to catch Bruce.
