He told me he would get to the changes as soon as he got back from the show. Sunday was last day. Monday to unpack, today is Tuesday. Maybe today. It is just like I do things, as soon as I can. I wonder how many vendors he will lose because of the date change. He really did get screwed considering they had given him the date last March and changed it in Late November.
I’m not sure I’ll be able to make the new dates. Have to see about juggling around some things.

Web site changes can be done in just a minute or two. For something as important as this, I’d do it as soon as I found out because you really don’t want rumors floating around.
But…I’m not running this show…
Being told it is official that the dates are changing due to circumstances beyond their control
not changed on there web yet and some dealers have not been told yet, if I were a dealer and they wait much longer to tell me I may not go.
Don’t know when the decision was made, but the train show manager is not normally the webmaster of the web site… and I’m sure this is not a “big ticket” site, so he may have to wait a couple of days for the changes.
But basically notifying people in December for late March is pretty tight, especially when (I believe) the dates were pretty much cast in stone for the previous years.

Hmmm. Another day sans update...OR it wasn't a "true rumour"™ to start with...I tried to sign up in the Facebook group to see if there was any news there, but that's "pending"...
I did not make it up. I was told on Saturday by Dan Viera of Star Hobby. He is running the show.
I went on line today and booked a room for the “New” date.
It is moving, the original show date will be an RV show for the next 5-years

Well, that’s cool! I didn’t realize he was doing the show. Now if we only knew who was going to update the web site… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-embarassed.gif)

D&B sans BD?!
Sure hope you can get your plans changed Bob, and without too much trouble, cause it wouldn’t be the same!!
With the changes needed, and not being made in the advertisement of the show; it gives the impression that as Cliff has said, “It won’t be the same”…with or without Bob…or will there even be a show…a change in dates, with less than a year’s notice, we won’t even have a show, this year, or ever again.
So guys…another loss for the LS hobby…
Gosh!
Someone should talk to Star Hobbies, or whoever is in charge over there, and suggest that they at least give the impression that they know something about running the show, or at least communicating with the public…after all, without THE PUBLIC, the show is dead…
Someone mentioned that they actually were speaking with the supposed head honcho of Star Hobbies…well…call him up and find out what in hell the hold-up is…
If they were speaking with him…they know him better than anyone else does…so pick up the old fashioned TELEPHONE, and make the call…please.
If the hold-up is the web master…
…what stops the Star Hobbies guy from coming on these forum pages and posting a message ?
It’s all about COMMUNICATIONS…and in this case they are sadly lacking…I wonder how they manage to run a business…EGADS…
OK, Fr. Fred, I will call tomorrow.

I “highly commend” Star Hobbies for stepping up to the plate and taking on what needs to be done in order to execute such an undertaking. So why bitch about it however simply appreciate it ?
Or better yet come to the show and purchase from them to support the hobby. I personally have many times over the years, have you ?
This crap is what kills the hobby not promotes it! I wonder if anyone even bothered to send condolences to the family of Lewis Polk who was an icon in the hobby ?
EDIT FOR POST COUNT !

One the problems with the internet is sometimes informal news travels faster then official news. Often this informal news is correct and often it is not.
In this case I called Star Hobbies yesterday and was informed that the final decision had just been made to move the date but there were still items that had to be completed before the formal announcement could be made. Hopefully by early next week.
They had a signed contract for the original date. They had to decide if they wanted to fight it in court or decide to move the date. To make that decision they had to call all their vendors before they could make the decision. This took time and once they started calling the information was out there in an informal fashion.
I appreciate their dedication of trying to keep this show alive and trust that this will all work out. I also understand that their first priority is their business and not the show so I understand that it often takes more time to settle everything out and ensure that all the Ts are crossed and the Is dotted.
I am also sure they would gladly had the show over to someone else should someone want to step up to the plate. So I would suggest we all take a deep breath and give them a week or two to complete all of the required tasks.

edit; not for post count, but to say Stan’s post 'bout covers it.
Just wanted to thank you Stan. I thought about a contract cost lots of money to fight. I see RLD Hobby is in changed his dates of show on his web site.
Cheers Richard
Stan correctly suggests his business is more important than the Show. It is; apparently large scale is not a product flying off his shelves, other scales and models are.
A idea of how well large scale products sell can be gleaned from Dan’s stocks of Aristo. He has, so it appears, things long gone from some other stores. Take a look at his web site; you might be surprised at what he has.
Large scale is a hard trade it seems. Few sons/daughters appear to take over family businesses and when they do they soon find an easier living selling other products. I applaud those like Star Hobby, RLD and one or two others, that stick it out and despite the brickbats still manage to offer competitive prices.
