If you have some extra time, stop by the RR Museum of Pennsylvania right across the street from the Strasburg RR. They’re running trains at 12, 1 and 2 PM on Saturday and Sunday. I’ve been to the museum, but have not yet tried the train ride.

How far is that from where the show is?

It’s about 50 minutes from the show. I really liked the museum; it’s been a few years, so it could be time for a return visit.

Hmmm… that could take up my Saturday afternoon, especially if I spend all my train fund money on Friday!

I haven’t tried the other area attractions; looks like something for everybody.

Thanks Lou - We are really looking forward to our visit and be assured the first thing we do is make a bee-line to the alcove. Being a new-be I’m looking for track and switches and Julie the incredible quilter she is will be checking out the local shops for fabric.

Looking forward to see you there
Cheers, Rob

There is a Jo Ann fabrics on RT74 or Queen St. in York(Ken told me that’s how I know) http://businessfinder.pennlive.com/PA-York/Fabric-Stores

The Gettysburg outlets are fairly close as well. http://www.horizongroup.com/our-centers/gettysburg/

I two would highly recommend the RR Museum of Pennsylvania right across the street from the Strasburg RR. i have been to both if you buy a ticket to the strasburg rr you get a discount on ticket to museum. If you get there early you can watch hook up of the steam loc.

coaches are heated with a potbelly coal stove. also on rt. 30 just before you turn there is a large outlet only one i have seen with B&D outlet store

Richard

When you check in at Hotel, pick up a York County Visitor’s Guide. There are many quilt shops in the area. There is Stauffer’s, which has cookies and all of the brands of pretzels made in the area. At Hanover Foods you can stock up on cans or frozen food, and of course more pretzels. Wolfgang Candy in York. And on and on and on.

That’s what we usually do on Saturday. We hit the show on Friday and then Strassburg Saturday. I also like the Toy train museum. They have a great collection and some nice layouts. Then we hit the Cho cho barn. Kids love that one.

Shawn if talking about the TCA toy train museum it is not open till April. Shawn have you let your kids play in the rr museum with the LGB switching?

Richard

I see it is 21 days to go, hope the weather warms up for you that are going to the Show.

Robert - BTW caution for your Sunday plans, most of the Lancaster PA Dutch stores are closed.

Whatever you do, dont go upstairs in the gift shop at Strassburg, and start looking through the books. Your wallet wont get home alive.

21 days and counting…come on spring…

Bob I like the train store in Lancaster. I think its the same owner as the one as Strassburg. He has a great collection of books and magazines. I always like hitting that place, forget the name but Im sure Ken will know.

I made the mistake of going through the Strassburg shop with Bart. He kept handing me books “you need this. and this. This is good. this one… .that one…” it was an expensive trip. But we did do the shop tour, too.

NINETEEN days to go guys.

A friend Stateside tells me that there are going to be some good blowouts from a couple of the well known dealers. I am glad that I am not going: I maybe would have to take a re-mortgage on the homestead or get a divorce. lol

“… I am glad that I am not going: I maybe would have to take a re-mortgage on the homestead…”

Yep ! that is what i tend to think when trying to put a positive spin when missing another ECLSTS (last one '03)

doug c
