Devon's MIK 2021- Compressed air loco

One thing about taking pictures is you find stuff you missed…

I’m not a worshipper of John Allen, but I remember reading in one of the old magazines about how one reason he thought pictrues were valuable was for exactly that reason. I cringe some times when I see the pictures! Other times I say, okay!

The only problem I see, Devon, is the string of mining carts you need to put behind this thing!

Very unique loco, Devon. Now all you need is to go solicit the chick in Todd B’s Can for your engineer (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)I’m sure she is ready for some new scenery (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

That will happen eventually. Certainly not for the challenge. But I want a string of at least three or four hopper style.

solicit is probably the wrong word to use… at least for the preacher Devon. Now if you want to continue the stereotype, as a trucker, I spend all my time in truck stops and soliciting wimmen. Couldn’t be farther from the truth, but that is a stereotype.

I am going to refrain from this rabbit hole

I dont think I will finish before tomorrow morning when I will have to leave for Seattle. But I am plugging along. The main part of the tender is made. Just needs detailing now.

The valve and hose i am pretty happy with. I made the valve manifold so that its hollow and the wires are fed through it. Then the heat shrink makes the hose. So form and function. Allows me to connect the loco to the tender for battery power.

Well, best of luck on the “rooting around with a stick” operation… Your model DOES look good - take care!!!

Wow. That is a lot of air (hot air?) in that tender. Looking good.

Best of luck in Seattle!

Tender looks good, Devon. I like how you have already applied the pressure rating (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)Have a successful trip to Seattle. I thought about suggesting that we have the 1st zoom meting that is being discussed at your surgery. That way we could all watch it live and provide input to the surgeon to make sure it is a complete success (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-tongue-out.gif)

Can’t wait to see this going around your eventual fn2 addition to the layout!

The hose idea is great, wish I could think about doing things that clever. One thing I’ve noticed tho is that the wheel base is sorta long on the tender, you sure it’ll go around any of the corners you got planned?

Welll,

Out if surgery. All new plumbing again. But went well, already noticing improvement. Very little pain without pain meds other than Tylenol.

Ben,

I may have to narrow the wheel base. And since I missed the deadline I might just go ahead and narrow it down. Even if it did go around the curves I think it looks funny. And I might decide to put outside hung brakes on it.

Glad to hear the surgery went well, Devon.

Good. Let’s hope they got it right this time.

Yeah I’d be real happy if this one lasts

Try a 25% reduction of wheelbase. Moving the mouse arrow around the image suggests that could be appealing.

Maybe somewhere between 25% and 33%, but closer to the 25 than 33 end of that range.

Yeah Forest

Thats about where I was thinking too

So I am still plugging away. Recovery is a bit slower than I would like but the pressure is under control. Pain is minor but I am pretty lethargic and sleeping a bit more than I should. But I am also pushing myself a bit more than I probably should with projects and snow blowing. Anyway I did get a new set of train tracks out of the deal.

And before you say it. . . No it really does not hurt that much, it looks much worse than it feels. I have been working a little on the loco. The tender wheels got moved, I like this better. And a switch was added to turn the loco on and off.

Basically all thats left is rivets, paint, and then some Hilyer inspired weathering to really grime it up.

Glad to hear you feel better than you look.

Technically, was that even a compliment?
