John is right about the springs, done. I got the rigging done. I am very close to calling this done. Get the couplers done and the truss rods and some paint and I think its complete.
Braided fishing line makes a nice looking cable and will haul in a 20# Pike, good stuff. Not a 20# but a good day
Yea, the lowered trucks are much better, For the oils try using some dryer in the turp. it will speed up the wait time.

They are still pretty red. But it is staying that way. I am done maybe when I mix the next batch of gunk I’ll hit them again. But if they stay that way it will be fine by me.

Wheels are easy when you use the Camo paint to weather them

Sean I am not seeing your pictures. And thanks for the tip on the camo paints. I have used them before and have never thought about them for modeling, but good earth tones. For this build I am not going to get any but I do have some flat caramel brown. And I have used a trick of applying flat clear and then dusting with weathering powders. I still have some tricks up my sleeve. I will get them toned down. Live and learn, don’t start with red as a base color and then try and make it go away.
Now onto the next problem, the lettering. For the foreman caboose I used my cricut to cut a stencil. I am having issues with my cricut. So for this build that is out. I considered using the photo transfer method but seem a little tedious for what I am trying to accomplish. Then it hit me, it is not at all unreasonable to block out a black area and then paint white letters on it. happens all the time on repurposed cars. So the easy way to do that is to print white letters on a black background. Since I don’t have an Alps I can’t print white. But I do have white decal paper so just printing it on white decal papers in a black box will work right? Well they came out looking like a dung heap. And I only had once piece of white decal paper left. It was scratched and despite my thoroughly wiping it clean before printing it still showed all the scratches and smudges. So the next alternative is to print them on clear paper and paint the car white under the decal. This should yield a white letter on a black background. I printed the a sheet and they look good. Need to clear coat them and get them ready for applying them.

This thought had crossed my mind. And then just as quickly crossed out of it. That is how I did the foreman caboose. But I was able to cut the stencil with the cricut. I am not very excited about hand cutting one either. It was a whole lot easier to print one out on decal paper.
