Nice build, looking good, are you going to paint the bricks red?
Kewl beans!..
Great Bob, and
BIG
Looking good!
That looks like it’s darn near 1/64 outta square! Are you planning on fixing that?
1/64? I thought it was more like 1/87?
I’m hoping this is going to be finished for the D&B at York!
Very nice!
The problem I have with tall buildings is wind, how to you plan to lower the center of gravity to lessen the likelyhood of tipping over in wind? are you securing this to the ground or planning on weights in the lower portion of the hoist building

I used to have that problem with my coaling tower. It stood about 32" high and was always getting blown over. I made up some L shaped pieces from some old brass track I had laying around and pushed them into the ground behind it to hold the base down.
Great looking model.
Where will the coal unloading pit be located? Under the storage bin or on a siding next to the hoist tower?

My plan is to have a pair of angle brackets undneath, attached to the insides of opposite legs, and screw that down to the benchwork that this will sit on.

On the prototype, it was next to the hoist house on its own elevated track.
So Ill build something like that, though my track configuration around where the tower is going to sit might have a track angle problem.
A bit of work this morning early. Got the connecting pieces between the hoist house and the coal bin in place. These are set at 45 degrees.
And I started filling in seams. I’m cutting the styrene strips to go between the brick sections. They will go on this afternoon.
Bet they were fun to size and place, or did you use cheater blocks behind them ?
Still looks good
Get some windows in that thing it’s to dang cold for that!
Today I am cutting the .040 strips for between the brick sheets, to give it the proper look of having the bricks slightly inset into the concrete. Here’s a closeup of the progress, with windows in place to get an idea of the final look.
looking good Bob, thanks for sharing.
Nice!
Are those Grandt Line windows?
Ahhh…sugar.
I had the cutoffs from the railings and fence posts and they didn’t survive the “but you save everything” rant. Now I see what you can use those for.
Well, I’ll just chop up a spare post!
and another great building… I’ve got to get busy. Thanks for sharing. Slow down a bit and maybe I could catch up!!!
