Large Scale Central

CN Spadina coal tower, my way

Looking pretty cool. Do you have the brass parts planned out yet?

Ive been playing around with some cardstock, trying to get the right look for the chutes, but havent really started on them yet.

Looking good!

Looks great, can’t wait to see it painted.

I dug through my brass stock and found enough to build the chutes. I think. Sheet, angle, channel, and even some brass pulleys.

This is the look I’m going for

Not sure. I have some round wooden beads that might work.

Ooh…I would not go with wood…

They make round fishing weights of lead… think they would make nice counter weights… Hammer then a little, and they will make the oval shape like in the pictures…

Just my 2 cents worth…

Actually that’s a pretty good idea Dad…Bob check out sliding or hollow sinkers and you can get them in oval shapes with a hole in the center

or he could use plastic beads in that shape from local craft store

What size do you need? Plastruct has more than a few different sizes. Hemispheres, but you could glue them together…and weight them while you’re at it.

A bit of looking at prototype photos, and some cardstock cutting, and I came up with a good design for the chutes.

Very nice, Coming alone.

Neat. Will that be single piece brass, and bent, or will you make it out of several pieces?

Single piece bent, the the “front” and assorted details will be added.

HELLO i am new here i have read all your posts up to this part and you did not provide any diementions of the parts of this build so we could build one of our own … WHY ??

Because it’s a one of a kind model. I don’t post dimensions to my modeling projects as its my model. A lot of us don’t post pictures of every step we do, and thus we have our ‘secrets’ that we keep to ourselves.

Welcome aboard, Boyd! Actually, he did mention that the cylindrical part was made from a section of 10" PVC pipe, so you could extrapolate from that.
