One more strike notice at CP

I hope they don’t back down ! Alas the lobbyists will have the federal ruling party passing back to work legisl’, within a couple wks .
If I lived closer to their strike lines, I would drop by at least once with at least dozen coffees (from a mom-pop shop) in support of the frontline workers . . .
imho,

Doug,
That’s precisely what I plan on doing, along with video filming the “crew change” (managers only) at Kamloops. It’s a bit of a drive, but I plan to juxtapose the action at CN with what’s going on at CP.
I’m reasonably certain to get a few pertinent comments from the CN crews, they had to put up with “The Hunter’s” regime, prior to CN’s board declining to renew his contract.
Some of the guys on FB Group BC Railfans https://www.facebook.com/groups/410226782446299/476922879110022/?notif_t=group_comment live in Kamloops. They should be able to comment on number of trains and such. Lets see how these two will develop

HJ,
Do you have any indication that the Longshoreman/PMA issue on the West Coast is driving more container traffic to the CN or CP? Increased volume of containers coming out of the Port of Vancouver?
Not so far, at least I haven’t read anything on the different FB Groups (CN, CP etc. etc.). I guess the telling factor would be the number of empty well cars rolling West. I’ll keep my eyes peeled next week.
I’m not sure how close you are following that issue, but I would expect to see Westbound Baretables to be heading to the Ports this weekend as the PMA has shut down the Ports for the holiday weekend, so ships are likely to be even more heavily backed up on Tuesday when the docks open back up. I’ve only heard of a few shipping companies that have rerouted to the Port of Vancouver. I’m not sure if the Port of Vancouver is operating at 100% capacity and if they could handle the overflow.
Craig,
This has just popped up
Now this sentence I find rather interesting…
“Brown said the Vanterm and Centerm container terminals on Burrard Inlet are starting to put restrictions on the number of U.S.-bound containers they will off-load due to the backup.”
Seems like it’s already hitting home!
Another one of those … this time on the Crows Nest Pass line

As soon as i saw the pic’ I thought, Frank’s Slide ! geeez i was right.
Got tah wonder if some small debris came down and got in the way of a flange ?!
They’re darn lucky they had no (noticable) leakage !! Maybe some of those ‘super’ tankers

CN crude oil train wreck (including fire) in remote Northern Ontario

Teamsters end CP strike, agree to arbitration.
Interesting perspective
I guess somewhere along the line enough is enough
http://www.eturbonews.com/55606/canadian-pacific-railway-unsafe-rail-practices-and-threatening-e
It’s that neighbourly feeling when living along a rail line and the suits (from CP, whoelse?) decide to change everything to make them suit better.
Update on the CN fire in Northern Ontario
Another derailment of a CP train in one of the National Parks West side of Kicking Horse Pass.
“Safety is the top priority at CP and we take all incidents seriously,” said a statement issued by spokesperson Salem Woodrow. “CP’s emergency protocols were immediately enacted and all safety precautions and measures are being taken as our crews respond to the situation.
“CP is working closely with Parks Canada.”
It will be very interesting to see how Ottawa reacts to a lock-out as opposed to a strike.
