Interesting reading. Thanks for the links. It’s good to see you back.

Thanks Mark!

That’s interesting and fits in with the Calgary (several yards), Didsbury (nearby sulfphur plant that loads unit trains) and Red Deer (general interest) trip next summer.
And there’s a large indoor LS layout in Rocky Mountain House that would be interesting to see.

“…a large indoor LS layout in Rocky Mountain House that would be interesting to see…”

There used to be one outside Rocky’ by one of the regional club members (till at least early 2000s’), but did not know of one ‘in’ Rocky’ … maybe they moved into town… since we are all gettin’ a little older and may wish to play it safe when it comes to expedite medical needs !

Although it could also be a ‘new’ enthusiast’s railway that I’m personally not aware of !

No, it’s probably the one you know. Haven’t checked his website in a while, but I will before I head that way.

A very good article on the yard and train operations and how they effect Sudbury, Ont

BTW a good portion of that yard can be viewed from the Paris St. bridge and/or from the station platform.
Just don’t lose your lens cap from the bridge.

You mean like, You can see it laying way down there, and you know that its just fine, Now if only you could figure a way to get it back, without being arrested. Oh Wait, there is a guy coming your way and maybe he will get it for you, NOT he just chuckles and walks the other way…

Gee how would I know about those things?

Yes, Dave. Pretty much like that . When I bought the FS-100 camcorder with the auto lens cover I let a sigh of relieve. Ah, one less item to worry about.

The item on my P&S cam that was very handy was the sun visor for the display, but it also called for regular replacement: either lost or damaged. The last one was the last straw.
Instead of that I now use GreatShield anti-glare film, which I ordered for my Acer Iconia 100 to be able to see the throttle in bright sunlight.

CP’s take on their performance.

When backhome in july and sept./oct I did seem to notice more grain trains running on their trackage vs CN !

Beyond that corp. chatter is just pyschobabble … just saying what they know the shareholders want to hear … better to talk to the frontline employees to really get a feel for, or verify what ya see is actually happening !

imho

That’s funny; that busy Sunday down the Canyons, CN was hauling almost twice as many grain hoppers as CP. CP was moving a lot of coal (full and empty) that day.

Of course you’re right, the corp chatter is for the stock holders.

The TSB report on the one derailment is out

I guess that will cut the traffic down for a bit

Bummer, I was planning on railfanning on Sunday, but if the bridge is destroyed there won’t be a quick fix.
