Pictures of the surgery or it didn’t happen Sean!!! Hope you are well on the way to recovery
Almost there … Thanks… (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif)
Well I did it!! Last Wednesday The CFO/SHMBO mentioned that our nephews son was coming home from South Korea, (Army deployment) and that family was coming to our house this Sunday for a small get together, and to see the railroad layout. Cool except the 'layout" consists of a sections of straight flex and sectional track, just plopped in the approximate position where it may reside. So after work was done early Friday, and all Saturday at 6:25pm UP #2062 took the maiden voyage around the first loop of track. After a couple of rounds to make sure there were no major problems I added some cars, somehow getting a consist of a USA loco and 50’boxcar a LGB flatcar, 3 Aristo boxcars and with a bread twist tie a USA boxcar with Hook and Loop couplers to all play nice together and got to sit and wartch my Railroad come to life.
The Babs River Railway will be undergoing some major trackwork to address dips and hills and some cross level and track alignment issues but trains roll around with little to no problems… so far. I have not added the longest car in the fleet to see how the curves are, that will be today’s tests
the old , rickety bridge was used for now, this will be a 2 track bridge when I get the time to build it.
I didnt think this day would arrive as soon as it did!
this curve has been un intentionally super elevated, which is nice, but the curve the loco is coming around in the first picture is super elevated in the wrong direction, and down hill to boot so it will need to be fixed first, not a major lean, but noticable so some ballasting under the track should fix that problem.
Now to figure out posting a video.
No Sean It is not done, but trains can go aroundy round!!
Very cool!
congrats Pete!

That’s close enough to success to count as success!
Y’all have a good visit.

It’s all down hill from here…
Pete,
You will be able to post a video using these instructions I posted a while back…
YouTube Video Embedding Instructions
This topic has to be re-mastered every time the site owner makes an upgrade to the software. For this incarnation the procedure is…
- Grab the embed code from the YouTube video (directly on the video): right click in OPERA (copy embed code); right click in FireFox (Copy embed code); right click in Chrome (get embed code);right click in IE (get embed code).
- In the reply window click on “insert/edit video” button in the top row (looks like a movie frame), and select “Embed”.
- Paste the embed code (copied from YouTube) in the box and click “OK”.
That’s what we all found works now. Some day down the road we will have to find a new way for new software, but for now this works. Have fun!
That is great Pete. It is a start and knowing your track plan, there is lots more to come. By the way, we did miss you at the ABTO meeting yesterday, but knowing you had a deadline it is excusable. Keep up the good work. I would really like to come and see what you have done some time.
Colin

Pete it’s very gratifying to me , to see that you have trains running .
I keep trying to do it the proper way but it will not add the video. Try again
Wow, that looks good, Pete. You now officially have a real RR and in only 6 pages. Must be a record. I hope your visitors appreciated and realized all the hard work you put in to get the RR to this point. It will only get bigger and better from here.
Oh yeah they did Dan, my brother in law ( Mike) actually helped move dirt one day and was completely suprised when he came out back to see a train rolling around. I also set out last years BBQ from the Mik Challenge and this years Portal so they could get a small ida of where thing are headed. Mike also came bearing gifts, a couple of glass insulators, one with LED’s inside it and a package of some corrugated aluminum he saw on Craigs list, so now I have to build something for it! Grandkids ran the train a bit and had first accident, I was using a twist tie to couple a hook and loop to an Aristo coupler, and it came off and they didnt see it until the train came around the bend and smacked it causing the first derailment. One car on the ground and the loco splitting a switch by the front truck

If the Grandkids did it, its OK (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-laughing.gif).
eh, my fault for turning on the momentum on the controller to show her how it works, then going inside to grab a bottle of water, I came back as it happened. I told her as engineer she now had to take a post accident drug test, she failed to see the humor it that rermark when I handed her a cup to give a sample. 13yr olds are sometime humorless.
Pete,
Success with the railroad and the video posting. Congratulations! (https://largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
good job Pete
Progress Report, As I said in the first post on this, June is wicked hot, and it has been until today, 3 day ago it was 109, and today its 86 and some sprinkles of rain from a storm south in Mexico sending moisture this way. So this afternoon after other stuff was taken care of, I went out with my small level to fix some cross level problems. then I started to look at what track I have and contemplate a change of track plans to offer a little more of an “operations” type to keep me a little more entertained. I can see this is going to require 6 to 8 more switches and probably another box of track, and there is still the "switch to battery voice in my head. Still a lot to think over, consider and measure to see if my ideas will work without making a small layout look like someone dropped a bowl of spaghetti. I have a alternate plan I drew up 2 weeks ago but I think it is in the bag with my laptop, which is currently in my big truck several miles away, so maybe next weekend I can post a picture of my last idea and my new “ops” layout plan to get some feed back. Film at 11, not sure what day , but forthcoming sooner or later.
