Brrrrrrrrrrrr

Right now its 23 degrees in Clarksville Tennessee and 2-3 inches of snow on the ground. Snow with any depth is unusual in these parts. So ,it was a chance to grab the camera and get a few of those classic locomotive in the snow shots I have seen in other parts of the snowy world. How I wish I had one of those neat live steamers. I figure I’ll have to duck but the D & D got to run all day. The temperature on the California desert was 65 with no rain in sight. In fact the fire threat is increasing!

Tom.

Great shots!!

My bro lives in Kodak (Seveirville) and tells me that they are expecting 3-5 inches and temps in the teens and below. Should keep the white stuff around a couple of days anyway.

Here in the panhandle of sunny Florida, we are going down to mid 20’s for the next three nights. TOO DAMN COLD!!

Hi Bob,

Yes sir, Tennessee goes into wide spread panic mode whenever the white stuff hits and sticks. Boss just called and said do not have to come to work until 10:00 AM…I suspect we will probably “close early too.” Krogers grocery is making a fortune right now and the kids are celebrating as all schools are closed.

My mom lives in St Petersburg Florida and she is upset about the cold snap too. Too much for us Southerners!!!

Doc Tom

Dont mean to snow on your parade but here in the high rocky mountains no snow and it has been in the 50s in the day high 30s in the nights. hope for a light winter this year. All the same have a MERRY CHRISTMAS.

84 degrees tonight in Burbank, CA at 6:30pm! Santa Ana winds off the desert.

Im still waiting for our snow. This is very unusaul for my area to be snowless. Snowshowers in forcast today. I hope it drops at least an inch. The trains will be on standby for the snow.

Eddie, I think there has been some warp in the jet stream that is bringing all this cold weather into the South. 8 degrees here in Clarksville Tennessee on the Garden RR thermometer. Never the less I know it won’t be long before y’all have this:

The picture is from Google Images and is of a steam train in the San Juan mountains. Merry Christmas, Doc Tom

Two years ago about this time we got 36 inches of the white stuff. Too deep for any train pictures! That reminds me, I broke my snow shovel shoveling a path the first day and haven’t replaced it!

Northern Summit county (about 30 miles southeast of Cleveland, OH.) - we’re being belted with “lake effect snow” right now. It’s expected to go on like this till tomorrow afternoon. At least a foot on the ground with another 6" to 12" expected AND near blizzard winds … how do you spell FLORIDA?

Walt

Nah, too cold in Florida! How about a trip to California?

A Winter Poem for Andrè

WINTER POEM

It’s winter in Minnesota
and the gentle breezes blow
seventy miles an hour
at thirty-five below.

Oh, how I love Minnesota
when the snow’s up to your butt.
You take a breath of winter
and your nose gets frozen shut.

Yes, the weather here is wonderful.
so I guess I’ll hang around.
I could never leave Minnesota
cuz I’m frozen to the ground!

Have a great day

15 degrees and dropping in Southern Illinois. Expecting to hit 5 degrees tonight. We are very grateful it is still Fall, because we wouldn’t want this COLD of a Winter.

thank you Bruce. You just made my day.

Bruce …Great little poem, makes the 21 degrees we are expecting overnight here in FL seem not so bad

Doesn’t change the fact that I am freezing my @#$%'s off, or that the heat pump runs almost constantly. My blood is too thin for this kind of extended weather. BBBRRRRRR (teeth chattering).

Finalley woke up to snow this morning. Got aboutan inch perfect for running trains. The temps is in the teens and very windy.
