Officially we got 24. I think in my yard it’s closer to 30…
Jon,
You have my sympathy pal! We moved from Deep River, CT. to northeastern Ohio in 2008. We’ve had some pretty hard winters so far, but nothing like you guys have been getting this season. Right now it looks like we may have made the right move.
Hang in there, spring really is coming … really, it is.
Walt
Thanks Walter. Last year we had almost nothing all winter. This year I’m afraid we’ll have snow piles still in May.
Jon Radder said:Last year we were the opposite, especially the last 2 months of winter where we had over 90 inches of snow for the season and most came within a two month period. Jon lucked out from that. Our average snowfall for a season is around 65 inches.

Jon,
Great pictures! Only shovel the light stuff.

Fortunately this was light and fluffy. I shoveled the walk and dug out the car without even breaking a sweat. Of course it helps that I’ve been doing lots of manual labor since July at the new job. I can do quite a bit now without getting winded.
Later in the afternoon Matt’s best friend came by with a snow blower and helped Matt dig out his and Mom’s car. It took me a half hour though to dig a 15 foot path to the trash cans to take them out tonight.
Woke up this AM to more wind and blowing snow. The drifts in my yard keep getting deeper and deeper. The one that covers the logging area of the layout has to be 4 ft now. Going to have to dig the tracks out before it packes down too much and gets crusty.
Sorry I missed it…it was 85 in Ft Peirce, FL and 70 over in Port Manatee…
72 and sunny in CA when I got here.
It 'twas a balmy 83 degrees today in Burbank, CA.
And we celebrated because it made it to 60!
Ha Ha…screw you all
It was 10 degrees here this morning.
I wish our Canadian neighbors would just keep that cold air up there where it belongs
Ralph
We celebrate when the temp hits 33. Even yesterday i went snowshoeing in just a long sleeve shirt and no hat and gloves. The sad part was the temp was 26. Thats pretty bad when 26 degrees feels warm. HA ha Today more snow in forcast and then again tue and wed.
This is supposed to be our coldest time of the year. In the early 1980s at this time of year we hit 0 five nights in a ro., The 10-day forecast this year says we;re not even supposed to get to freezing!
Some of the valley areas by me went down to -2 last night. I was 9 degrees. Getting light snow now.
I’ll trade you.

More people a killed by people than any other thing on earth, so you should fear your fellow man more than anything else on earth.

Awww poor bears, while I don't like seeing such a great animal like a bear being killed, having them in those numbers in proximity to people (even rural NJ has a pretty large population) is just asking for trouble so I can see the justification. Here they would tranquilize them and cart them out into wilderness areas for release, but NJ doesnt have any wilderness areas, unless you include Newark. ;)
There are places in Joisey, that can accept bears. The area is known as "Lower Joisey, where there are swamps and dikes, canals and ditches. This area is looked after by a clan known as “The Vogels”.
The Vogel clan is headed up by one, “Carl Vogel” who along with his offspring, is accompanied by a wide range of personalities, astarting with Victoria, Shamous, and many others. They also have a “Barge Dog” that is known to plug holes in dikes, and protect bears from inhumane traps.
Carl is well known on a list, called “The Circle of Fiends” which is headed up by everybody’s friend/fiend, Marvin Brown.
Yes, there is a safe haven for bears, ex mafia god fathers, possoms, coons, and just about anything you care to dispose of, in Lower Joisey…
Looks like another lovley day in the Kittatinnies. Woke up to 2.5 inches of snow and still snowing. Calling for 3-6 inches with sleet turning to freezing rain. Thats not good for a RR
We’re a few degrees above freezing and getting a little rain.
I’m thankful it’s not snow, as I’m still catching up on last week’s routes, at work.
