Work is still in progress building the buildings for the layout…

Below are 3 factory fronts to go into the industrial park…

The red brick building is a 4-story factory…

Below is a gray 3 story factory building to go on another siding…

the last one so far is only the start of the factory… Eventually I plane to have a 2 story addition on top

which will extend over the 2 siding tracks, so that the tracks will be covered by the factory.

The building shown is the ground floor with the loading dock access…

Jane does a great job painting the buildings and putting them together…

WHOW!

the only way to better that would be to change the streetcolor of the layout to match the background streets.

i envy those guys, that can visit you…

Korn, actually when the poster board is down for the layout streets, they do match the wall street color…

If you back to page 2 and look, you can see the poster board down in front of the main city block…

the poster board was picked up so movement while painting would not ruin it… It just hasn’t been put

back down yet…

That dark gray color is what I painted all the foam board the I have put down…

Andy and Jane, Looks like its coming out pretty much like you have been describing what you wanted to get painted. The new buildings in the Industrial Park switching puzzle look like they are really going to tower over the rolling stock and give that City Canyon feeling. Very impressed. I was wondering if you guys were getting things done these Winter months. Looking forward to seeing it in the Spring. Should be home in about 9 weeks. Springs coming and we can Operate on the Blustone Southern, again.

Thanks for having the paint can for reference, is the color Brick red? should be able to find it at a bigger place than my local True Value

Pete,

The reddish looking paint is Rust-oleum painters touch, paint and primer, Gloss Cranberry…

Then the building was white-washed with a brush and that paint was Krylon acrylic latex enamel,

indoor/outdoor paint Satin classic gray from a quart can…

Jane would lay coat of the gray over the red, then wipe off as much gray as she wanted…

This filled in the mortar lines and left a dust/dirt look to the brick…

Then it was sprayed with a satin or a matte clear finish…

Another update:

Starting at the end of the Coke Plant truck lot, we start into the countryside.

As you can see, more buildings are to be painted in, along with numerous details…

Moving to the left of the previous picture, which is heading south in the basement, we continue with

the country scene.

And moving on further… The road will come across the layout and fall into the aisle…

And yet even further… Space for another farm…

Coming down into a valley…

Nearing the end of the work so far…

Showing the end of the work this past week… Notice the window at the far left, that is where trains

exit the basement to run outside.

More painting to follow and many details in the painting to be added…

Well, here we go with the next after a work session shots… Basically more details

have been added to the country scenes…

Starting from the Coke plant lot and working south…

Another farm to be added…

Rolling hills…

More hills… Crops, hay bales and animals have yet to be added…

you can see the road passing thru the farmland…

and more farm buildings…

The left part of the silo is a corner where the wall goes back about 6 inches… Further to the left would

be the window where trains departs the basement…

A lot more details will be added in the future…
