Large Scale Central

Block of stores

Time for a progress report. I’ve been squeezing in time on the framework this week. I now have the majority of the framework finished and I’ll soon be able to start the back wall. Start from the inside view

The front wall is complete

Side wall of the 5 and Dime end

Back wall underway

Starting the roof for the third floor

The spacers in the above photo were there for the contact cement. They have been removed and the wall is clamped at this point. Again thanks for the comments and suggestions.

Sweet

Got a bit more finished in the last 2 weeks. From the rear of the drug store.

The next section of walls scribed and trimmed out.

I started on a little color to clear my sight.

Started working on the 5 and Dime rear wall.

this is a steel sheathed freight door.

With both rear sections in place.

Thats most of what I got finished. There are a few detail pieces I’ve also been working on, but they are not far enough along to show. Suggestions always welcome.

That’s looking fantastic.

What’s the projection in the back?

I see full firewalls as well…smart arse!! :):)
Edit for page 4

Thanks for the comments.
Bruce the extension on the back forms a one room addition to each of the apartments. This will also have 6’ x 12’ wood porches for each apartment and an outside stairway/fire escape for all.

What about Coomb’s Tavern on Penn Ave?

Mike, I was leaning more toward the ‘Golden Plough Tavern’

Yes that one has more character. Coomb’s looks like somebody took one of the houses on the street and enclosed the front and put stairs and a ramp. Haven’t been in a real long time but that was the place for very affordable good Prime Rib.

Tun Tavern, Philadelphia, PA

Continuing with the build, I’ve been able to get the roofs cut and detailed, and most of the back wall glued in place. Drugstore roof in place with skylight openings.

It’s getting there slow but sure. Still a good bit of trim, and I ran out of some plastic shapes so I’m on hold for a few days. Edited because I hit the wrong button

looking good, hollywood… nice progress…

Hollywood
It’s lookin mighty sharp.
Can’t wait to see it on the layout
Ralph

Nice details. I hope this one fares better outdoors than the station. Did you ever come up with a fix for that roof ?

Thanks for the verbal support guys.

Jon, I think I have the station roof figured out finally, and will set up a test section when this is done. The station roof is this falls first project. And I hope this fares better also.   But the details are going to need to be protected.

Verbal support

Some more “verbal support”…

even more than the superb craftmanship, i admire your disciplin to seemingly work every day on your models.
