Large Scale Central

A tale of two houses

What’s beginning to bug me is that we’ve had a whole summer to play and work on our layouts and trains and all we have had is one pi$$ing contest after another. Maybe some of those that like to pi$$ into the wind would redirect that energy we would have more on topic posts to read…after all that’s what we should be here for.

Indeed. I posted a simple amusing story, and then had to defend myself from these loons.

Koolaid drinkers!

Arrrrghhh!

English is a second language for Tony, I guess.

Thats why these days I just give the forum a quick overview, and comment on only a couple topics that are of interest and pass on all the BS...I got too many things sitting on the ol' workbench to get into the latest tempest. ;)

I’m still looking forward to the day you will be able to actively work on your indoor and outdoor layouts. Maybe next year…:expressionless:

Arrrgh indeed.

I notice you still haven’t answered the question.

I guess you don’t have the courage of your own convictions to state clearly what you really believe. Only in an oblique manner that allows wriggle room later on.

Shame on you.

Steve,

Are your sources on the global warming question as accurate as that quote “Koolaid drinkers”? Wasn’t that Flavor Aid, rather than Koolaid? Or do 29 years of elapsed time dim the memory by that much?

HJ,
You have mail.

A very entertaining thread.
Only on the internet could everyone entertain such conflicting views without major fisticuffs.(mind you,a big table and copious amounts of wine often helps)

TASTES GREAT!

Tony,

Your problem with the Bush Admin is that you do not realize he is “sly like fox”…
Tell them that you agree with them & they will leave you alone, then go do what you want…

Bob. I didn’t say I have a problem with the Bush administration regarding the above matter.

They made the statement that they acknowledge Global warming is reality and it was caused by mankind.
Not me.

It is not my place to get involved in a discussion about domestic USA politics.

Steve has chosen not to answer my question so there it stays.

Two houses. Two different coloured doors. One red, and the other green.
Only problen was that one fellow was colour blind and walked through the wrong door at the wrong time…
Two broken marriages…and that had nothing to do with global anything…
It only proves that it is a good idea to lock your door.

Global warming; whether you believe in it or not, should bring to our attention how badly we ALL treat this old World of ours. Things we do without thinking, that harm ourselves and others.
Everytime we flush the toilet; everytime we water the lawn. Every time we pour stuff on the lawn just to make it as green as we think it should be…

All the times we could walk, but drive instead. Every time we put stuff in the garbage, that will only go to a landfill and sit there for a thousand years before breaking down.
This idea of throwing things away just because we want a newer and faster model…without thinking of what will happen to the old junker.

The use of water to turn normally desert like regions into growing areas, at what cost…to the water table.
The polution of our waterways , and the use of our oceans as sewers.
The plundering of the oceans by greed, for more and more fish…by dragging the bottom.
The lack of respect for ourselves and others.
the old idea that brute force will solve everything…

We aren’t in any position; any of us; to be overly criticle of any of our polititians…we elected them…and if any of us ran for public office; would we be any better when faced with power, and money…?

We all have to take a real good, clear look in the looking glass…I hope we can all see something better than we should expect.

Well said Fr Fred.

As to politicians. I don’t care what the politics of anyone may be.
I only care if they are honest. As honest people tend to do the right thing anyway.

BTW, I am reminded of the quote by Baron Acton.

“Power tends to corrupt. Absolute power corrupts absoutely.”

Honest politicians…??

Oh, but I did, Tony. You are just not able to get past the first line. RTFA!

Now, really, Fr. Fred. We have to think of job security for future archeologists.

They might lock me up if I say something like I think GWB should have been hanging from the rope next to Saddam…!!
