Large Scale Central

A Raised Road Bed: A build log for the RGS raised layout.

I decided to go with the original track plan using the TT as a bridge into the Yard Extension. Finally got some half decent weather to do something with this.

Rather than move that pile a ballast, I decided to just go over it.

As it was I had to move 3 plants in order to make this accessible.

The hard parts done. Getting around the corner and keeping it level with the old Yard.

Back to Lowes for more stuff…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

NO balls

If this nice weather continues, I may get this done before winter.

A trial fit to check out the curve.

Stay tuned…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Looking good, Ken. If it were about done, I’d volunteer to come up and help you. (https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-foot-in-mouth.gif)

Anyway, I get to see it for KenOps…

Bruce, if this weather holds out I may be “about” done soon.

Looks good, Ken… Hope the weather holds for you… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)

Needs another hole in the shed!!! Looking good Ken.

Ya what Jon said …

We could reference Devon here …(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif) ( Humor is good )

After a run up to Mechanicsburg on Saturday to steal some old road bed that Rooster had laying around and after spending a good part of yesterday afternoon taking it apart, got the rest of the boards screwed down and the weed cloth and screen tacked down.

Then managed to get a few pieces of said road bed screwed down.

More to follow, if the weather cooperates…(https://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

That’s fantastic Ken. Do you have specs for the PVC base you are using. I have to rebuild my layout at a new house, and want to have something raised. (getting old). I remember seeing lots of these, but can’t seem to find the details. Can you point me to somewhere it is described in detail.

Thanks

Your layout is looking really great.

Sure do, Paul. I have a build log for the layout in the “Articles” section:

Attention passengers you are on page 45…

Going for the record! Its a shame he doesn’t have the complete evolution here. It could go all the way back to the first loop by the garage window and the railroad tie retaining wall. Rooster can’t touch this, he was a mere “yoke in a shell”, when it started.

Hey Ken, nice work on the new bench area. It may need a sitting area. I can see it being the new gathering spot.

There’s a sitting bench there now, but I have a bunch of wood piled on it. I may need to move a few plants to make it easier to maneuver around in there.

Kevin has an arboretum planted where the old layout used to be.

Lyrics tell the truth !

Between the rain and now the snow, I got a little bit of cooperation from the weather finally.

Managed to get some track down.

Further progress:

Looks good, Ken, nice work… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-cool.gif)
