Andy,

You are approaching it with the wrong idea… A long tail track means more “operational interest”. I think it looks good how it is. From a RR cost stand point what would you gain ‘time’ wise by putting in two more turnouts? Not much to justify the cost. (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Craig, in talking with ken, I understood this wye, during operations, to basically turn the locomotives at the end of the line… Delores has the turn-table to turn loco’s at that end… Besides, longer wye’s just mean less time for cawffee and donuts… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

Duct tape? Hmmm, Why didn’t I think of that? …(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif) If I’d have been thinkin, I’d have ordered them when I ordered the rail.

I didn’t want to make the wye too obvious. This way a couple of buildings can be placed inside it and/or use it as a siding. And I wanted it to handle turning or holding a whole passenger or freight train. And like Craig said, it’ll add some “operational interest”…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Well Lou, you had your chance back in March after the show, but if you ever get back to the Wilmington & Western RR, I’m only a half hour away.

Having seen the railroad, before this addition, it is easy to understand its purpose. What a great evolution to this fine railroad. Can’t wait to get back.

I’m sure we can find a spot to park that big ol’ bus you got…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

After about a week of rain and non-spring like weather, got some more done.

Added some more x-members to the underside, which I should have done before placing the PVC board on top, but it was easy to get too.

And started on the 2 sidings on the north side.

Tweaked a few switches that were causing some problems.

and the rail joiners arrived on Monday, so we’re back in bidnez…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Further progress.

Need more 1/4" screen and 2 more trimplank boards and a few more 1x3’s.

Nice progress… Check the list twice, so only one trip is required… (http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-sealed.gif)

Ah, it ain’t that far away…but I’ll do that anyway…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

At our age, a trip to the hardware store is a welcome break.

Steve, my problem is that Lowe’s is 4 blocks from my house, but Ace is an hour away.

That’s a problem?

Steve, yes, having a Lowe’s that close can be a real problem. But having a real hardware store that far away is definitely an issue.

If I didn’t show up there at least twice a week, they’d probably call in a “missing person’s” report.

As it is, the lady at the check out counter always asks if what I bought is “train stuff”…(http://www.largescalecentral.com/externals/tinymce/plugins/emoticons/img/smiley-wink.gif)

Ran short of 1x3’s (quit snortin, Andy) since I decided to add a siding to the tail end of the Wye.
