Slots where the interior boards insert, dots drainage holes?
According to the accompanying instruction sheet, the round holes are supposedly for the rivets that hold the paddles on. Some design feature of that particular type of wheel. The slots are where the paddles insert. And a whole mess of little, teeny, tiny nuts and bolts that hold everything together.
Makes sense, sort of.
I just don’t understand why it’s half and half on this one, and all holes on the other.
The pieces with the holes are glue to the sloted parts, look closer you can see on the bottom 2 slots empty and 1 with the board added, I’d think you add the interior boards first then glue the sides with the holes last
Thanks…I just wasn’t seeing that. Makes more sense now.
It was only half done when I posted the picture.
Yep Mark has got it. I bought one of these kits and used it on my Grist Mill. Mine had the Wood grain facia instead of the bolted facia.
Now, to figger out where to set the wheel and sluice. I may have to wait for warmer weather to get this part situated right.
Lookin’ good, Ken. Really significant progress. There ought to be a lot at the D&B this year!
A very nice model Ken, good work.
As far as the warmer weather goes according to Punxsutawney Phil you got another six weeks of winter.
I love it.
Ken… Are you going to install a bushing for the Water wheel shaft? I had to do it on mine due to it runs a long time on shows.
Sure like the newer Water wheel they have out now from them. Very nice looking Mill to.
Just an Idea of maybe add a bushing on your shaft. Ken.
Mine is the old type of water wheel from them and showing the bushing I had to put on.
I’m thinking of solder a small tube on the busing behind the strap for an small drip oiler.
Noel,
The rod on This one doesn’t actually move, it’s stationary but the wheel itself has a small brass tube on each side that acts as a bushing on the rod. I made the pillow blocks from some PVC that the rod rests on.
Nice Ken, real nice
Very nice Ken, that stonework is especially nice.
Yeah, Ken… What they all said…
Wow Ken looks great and will be a nice addition to your layout. Do you have the site you got the wheel kits from? I might have missed it if you said where they came from.
A quick update. Lotta guesswork involved here since I have no access to where it going. (Buried under 2’ of crummy white stuff) Angled the spillway and test fit the sluice. And added some stone. Most of the spillway will be painted light gray.
Still a few details on the building that need to be added.
Very nice, I am going to try to build one of these over the summer while I am in PA and away from my FL railroad.
You do indoor projects in the winter, I am the opposite!
