A bit of a preview of what's coming

Which other "German" were you thinking of????

Oh…I see…Mr. Mueller.

He ist the only person I see on this site with a German sounding name.

Mr. Mueller posted incorrect information on this site as well. Lehmann is now not a GmbH company as he stated, but a KG. Don’t ask me what the legal and practical difference is, I’m not a lawyer, but these two entities are definitely not the same.

As to my first post correcting something that is incorrect - is that so odd? I assume everyone here had a first post at some point in time. I suppose I should have posted: “I’m Andreas…yada yada yada…”

Don’t worry - I won’t post too often, only when I see too much rubbish again.

Where did you get that idea?

I was just there a few days ago dropping off an item for repair and what you could see of the production line was humming.

I guess you must have dropped by on Sunday.

Hmmm…joined today…from Germany…to answer this specific post…does the term “ringer” apply here?

That’s right!

I have been reading here on and off a bit, but after I saw so much rubbish posted, I decided to join so I could comment.

And what is a “ringer” in this context?

I thought my English is pretty good, but a “ringer” to me means a bell - I assume this is something negative???

Andreas,

You need to take things with a grain of salt - I have a box of it close at hand for just those occasions in the different fora.

Now a “ringer” in NA parlance is someone who masquerades as someone he is not and thereby cheats, like at “Fasching”.
BTW to pick up all the relevant slang I can recommend the Urban dictionary great resource to pick up on the real lingo.

Of course if you read here off and on, then you should know which sections are “slightly volatile” there are only two and both are clearly marked.

And in addition you also need to look at the time of the posts e.g. in Marvin’s case he stated that

LRR said:
The EPL Factory is silent without a stir at the moment.
it was almost 17:00 in Nürnberg, not unusual that they'd gone home already. So he could have been right. ;) :)

BTW we have a few people on LSC with German names, but for “meine Kleinigkeit” I have dual citizenship, Swiss by birth and ancestry; Canadian strictly by choice.

Now on the incorrect information regarding EPL

I have this uncanny habit of checking things rather well - it's a Swiss vice - and what I found is that EPL's official title is now E.P. LEHMANN GmbH & Co.KG, you can actually reference that here.

I’m not a lawyer either, but it looks like the new owner made absolutely sure to cover all bases. GmbH = Limited company; Co = additional partners in the company; KG = limited partnership

KG is mostly used to raise venture capital without diluting control of the enterprise. As I said I’m not a lawyer, but I take a keen interest in what’s going in the MRR industry.

PS When I participate in the German fora I often check the times of certain posts. If one knows one’s “Pappenheimer” then one also has a good idea just how clear a head/mind was at work when the post was written.     Usually they don’t fall into the sober, second thought category.

Glad to hear that Avacado green is making a come-back. Perhaps I will be able to convince my lovely bride that we don’t need to update the kitchen appliances, after all.

Two comments from the FNG and both on on the New EPL…Hmmm???..Maybe “shill” is the more correct term.

Andreas,

Actually we had a German guy last year who made “his mark” with his very first post.

BTW I wish Herr Hermann Schöntag the best of luck … he’ll need it. I hope that the spare parts situation in Nürnberg gets straightened out real soon, there are a few things I need for my projects. But I don’t expect that great things will happen prior to the Nürnberg Fair.

When you see what you consider “too much rubbish” just read it carefully, you wouldn’t be the first German who didn’t really understand the gist of things. That can be embarrassing.

Marvin,

I thought you know how “the Circus” works?

There’s a ring in the middle and the action goes round and round. By the end of the performance it’s either the clowns who are a bit dizzy or the audience because they weren’t able to absorb all the spin.

Hope you got the comment about the downsized LGB display at the NTF? Considerably smaller!

Well, many believe that a restaurant with a concise menu will probably do things better :)

(I have no dog in this fight. Neither continental European nor American stock is vital to my well-being. Not that that prevents me from collecting some :D)

Look up. Look w-a-a-a-a-y up. Do you see pigs flying? Nope? Say hello to new appliances. :) Our kitchen is in desperate need of a makeover, too. No dough for it, though :(

Andreas, when I said German, I did not mean Swiss… As HJ stated, the German fellow made his mark on his first post. I think you will find him blowing smoke under a similar subject on a forum elsewhere.

Don’t feel too bad Steve. I just replaced the last of the avacado ranges at the apartments this summer…

Stirring the pot to make things dizzier is an American Invention…Heck…Look at the U.S. Congress…Ya can’t get no dizzier than that bunch…even on alkyhol.

Yes, I heard about the smaller EPL display at Nuremburg this year…and an “unconfirmed” rumour about a “possible” claim of 120 New LGB Items for '07 that will exceed the capability of the new “down sized” factory. Remember there are still some molds that have vanished…or have been abducted by aliens…illegal or green ones…anywho, they ain’t in Nuremburg.

And also the wind carries the message that LGB track will be in short supply after the warehouse stocks are depleted.

Oh, I suspect that sort of thing was old when Ur was young. As for the Congress, look at who keeps electing 'em (no offence, we do the same thing .../

Oh Boy!!!

Now I have to pretent to be interested in something else on this forum.

Trouble is everething else current is about American trains and I run RhB and Harz,

So sorry that my “third” post is in this thread as well, but at least I know what a ‘shill’ is…don’t quite understand how it fits here, I’m not trying to sell or promote anything.

Well, another bit of "rubbish" are the 120 new 2007 LGB items that someone here quoted. I wonder where that came from...is someones imagination working overtime???

Just a couple of days ago the Nürnberger Nachrichten had an article about Lehmann with an interview with Mr. Schöntag … he mentioned 60 new LGB articles for 2007 and he should know (at least I hope so), not 120.

PS: Mr. Mueller - what’s the spare parts situation that needs to be straightened out? I just received a bunch I had ordered and almost all of the parts showed up no problem. Did you order from LGB in Germany or LGB in the US?

Hmm.
Do I sense an attitudinal deficiency?

I do believe.

I also believe Boeing had a product to get us around that very same problem once.

Andreas,

You must be working overtime or you get up really early in the morning, which is surprising. From what I know and still hear you guys really like to party on Saturday night and tea isn’t on the list, or has that changed??

On those spare parts… those usually get ordered from the dealer I trust ( Händler meines Vertrauens… if you know what I mean  ) and so far there’s “no go”. Funny how different dealers have different impressions of what’s going on, isn’t it?

Of course it is possible the dealer I trust gives his customers the straight story instead of some balderdash, that’s happened before. But whatever the case may be, I’m sure I’ll get the parts soon enough.
Afterall I’m working on so many projects, there’s no fear that I run out of things to do.

PS You don’t need to be so formal (Mr. Mueller), my NA friends usually call me HJ, short and uncomplicated.

PPS Did you have any luck at Urban Dictionary? Does wonders to polish up your lingo, comes in handy for me, too. Looking up words the school kids use, I teach them XC skiing and they inadvertently teach me the latest words. Pretty good deal from my point of view.

PPPS The NN article was interesting, too bad I didn’t store it right away, but I figured it would keep 'til after work. Unfortunately NN and NZ have smartened up and one has to shell out Euros to read the archived stuff.
Of course I changed my reading/storing habit right away, one never knows when the interesting stuff pops up.

Dave,

Not to worry!

Have you ever played in a band? This may be a bit off topic, but playing in a blues or a jazz band really teaches you how to improvise.

Besides, remember that Clown last year? Had one hell of a problem getting the hang of things. Actually he never did, he just got very frustrated.

And I think the “shill” moniker has been validated…but it is good to know that the number is 60 for 2007…as told to the German Newspaper.

Actually, that was based on very good information. It’s just that the
American prototype items are missing from the list now.

I would encourage caution and patience at this time. The situation at
EPL is at a very critical – and highly variable – point.

Yeah, isn’t it funny, they come in all sizes and all guises.  But does a leopard change its spots??
